The seller GR8elite1 sells lookalikes of the SS30/50 and the SS 1500, they look really accurate too except for the stickers.

Re: The eBay Scambuster Topic
This is by far the weirdest knockoff I've ever seen. It is obviously based heavily on the Max-D Secret Strike and appears to be completely PR. (not the hybrid system the MDSS used) The only "scam" part of this auction is the CPS 2500 name. (and someone even fell for it and bidded; proves that these things do sell)

Omg what a lie! "You won't find too many double barrel soakers, this is your chance to get something unique for your children and ensure that they win all of their water fights."
"Your children" are going to fail terribly if they use this.

I saw that, and I loled when I saw that some person bid on it, just because of the sellers lies. This is why people need to become more informed, or need to ask someone who is. Edit: Yeah, sorry, I got carried away a bit.

Guys, let's keep it calm, let's not anybody call anybody stupid. It's a knock-off, there are plenty.

Re: The eBay Scambuster Topic
I don't blame the guy who bidded on it; not everyone is interested in water guns/warfare enough to really do any research on it nor spend a ton of time like we do. That said, if he finds out he bidded on a junker, he can always cancel the bid by contacting eBay about the scam.
If the seller stayed away from calling it a CPS 2500 by Larami the listing would probably be ok unless it violates the patents for the Max-D SS.

I noticed that too; that seller seems to have listed a few knockoffs as CPS 2500s....Obviously everyone here would stay well away but sadly not everyone is as informed as us so it is sad that regular buyers may get sucked in.
Is it possible to report the seller to eBay? I'm not a member so aren't sure....

You should be able to easily report them if you have an account, but I'm personally too lazy to deal with it and it's not something I have to deal with. (I don't use eBay that much anyway and the seller may have ways of jumping through the hoops.)

Re: The eBay Scambuster Topic
Wow, I just noticed that another person came into the previous auction to bid, resulting in 3 bids total. Oh are these people in for a surprise. At least the fake's aren't going up for a lot of money.
CPS 1000's are commonly $20-$30. No person who doesn't crap money is going to think about buying it for $125.
On the other hand, we have an Expedition going for $10 and a 1500 for $20. I'll post their links in another thread since this is relatively off topic.

I would expect most such scammers have multiple accounts so they can shill-bid.
I recently acquired a Max-D-SS at goodwill, so I recognize the similarity. I scavenged it for the few good parts, though. I wonder if I could sell the shell and the junk to this guy?

Re: The eBay Scambuster Topic
When I was just getting into super soakers I bid on one of those. Right after bidding I realized it was a fake and started kicking myself for bidding on it. Funny thing though, someone sniped it and bid higher than me last second! Hey, that's funny.

Re: The eBay Scambuster Topic
Someone recently got convicted of shill bidding, and fined £5,000. Don't know though how that compares to the potential extra money they made.
The thing is eBay don't care. More listings and higher selling prices means more money for them. I mean a while ago they decided to let sellers make listing where bidders' usernames were kept secret. If that's not an absolute gift to shills then I don't know what is. My advice is AVOID such listings.

Re: The eBay Scambuster Topic
In the U.S., all ebay bidders names are hidden, so that you cannot see who outbid you. That makes it a perfect target for artificially boosting bids, but anybody can do it.
