Gigs

Post by Spinner » Fri Jul 03, 2009 7:03 pm

It's the season for outdoor concerts and the like; anyone been to any good musical events lately?

I went to Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park last Sunday and saw Bruce Springsteen, among others; although standing up for over three hours is rather painful, the music and atmosphere was brilliant. Won't forget it in a while.

Who have you seen recently, or are going to see?

Submit your saga and see it up with other titans of water warfare.

Well, it wasn't a gig as such, but I saw Feeder at Clare May Ball a few weeks ago.

I may be going to the DCI Eastern Classic. It's not a gig as such, but it *is* an outdoor musical performance. :)

Last show I attended was by some girl named Lenka. I went because I thought she was good looking. You can laugh if you want, but that's honest. The show was free too.

Most of the music was enjoyable, though some of it was odd and seemed very misplaced. The opening act I didn't care for and my friend's car probably was nearly towed as it was illegally parked in staff parking, so I wouldn't say it was completely worthwhile but it was fun at times.

Generally I'm too poor to afford any tickets so I'm stuck with what's free. Hopefully something more interesting will come my way in the future.

I live where live music for free is common so I am spoiled at times when I can find the free time

I'll be going to Mayhem Fest in DTE theater w/ friends (who also attend wars regularly) on August 2nd, mainly for Cannibal Corpse and Slayer. There's a lot of other bands there, a few of them pretty lame. It's going to be pretty crazy though. Lawn tickets for groups of 4 are $20. The show's already gone on in other places for a while.
