I don't think I have anything to worry about really. We eliminated the virus fairly quickly, and I really don't think it did anything. It was a "Trojan Fake Alert" by the way. Nobody clicked on the alert though, so I think we're fine.
We use AVG.

What does the site run on, MySQL?
I reject your reality and substitute my own.
Quack damn you.

Re: Forum closing in 2011?
Well, the main component of the site is down again... It appears to be the same problem as earlier but I wouldn't know for sure. EDIT (15 mins later): It is online again.
I know some HTML but not extensively (i.e. extensive CSS work). However, my major requires some classes in web designing (which I will take next semester) where I will learn some basic PHP, Javascript, and perhaps MySQL. This would probably be a good opportunity to get a better idea on how things run. I also have a sophomore project on getting a website to run with login capability.
Maybe I should archive/take down HBWW and find another place to put the more personal water warfare information that I usually post there.

The website uses a combination of PHP and MySQL. PHP is the scripting language and MySQL is the database language.
It took me a few days to finally get around to it, but I have now started to outline the basic tasks to do.
C-A_99, you may find tinkering with the website backend to be instructive, so I'd suggest it. You might be able to figure out what's causing the random downtime. I do not seem to have the patience for that task.

Sorry to read about the diminishing time you have available, Ben. Hopefully activity will pick up and more helpers can be promoted.
Consider: "All of the elves' water blasters were CPS models."
Trust me on this, I'm a member of The Apostrophe Police (there's even three on my birth certificate, since it's in the family name).
And, virus is one of the exceptional words to those rules for forming plurals, due to its origin. The plural is virii..
Unfortunately that example fails to be in the possessive.C-A_99 wrote:Generally, any word ending in an "s" will be argumented with "es" for plural. When showing both possession and pluralism, an apostrophe is added to the end of the word. (i.e. "The elves' built over nine-thousand CPS water blasters at the toy factory.")

Aww, man! I just found this site and it was like the coolest thing I've found so far this year and it's going to be gone tomorrow. Oh well, if it can't be helped it can't be helped. I guess I'll go over to that iSoaker site and create a profile there.

I'm not sure if it's actually going to be closed.

And so it isn't. Phew. I hope this place stays around as long as possible.

Re: Forum closing in 2011?
No one said anything about closing the website. All I said was that if I don't get some help, I might have to close the forum to new posts to make maintenance a little easier. I've received some limited help, and others objected to the idea of closing the forum, so nothing is closing.
I've updated the original post to reflect this.
