Most Beautiful Skyscraper

Ever since I was little, I've had a keen fascination of really tall buildings. In recent years, I've been disappointed to see virtually all skyscraper activity shift from the US, my homeland, to the Pacific Rim. In 1980, the US occupied 24 of the 25 tallest building in the world slots (the one other was in Canada). By 2008, it will occupy only 4. Alas, there's really not much a teenager living in Indiana can do about it though. At any rate, I've recently just started to marvel more at simply the beauty and nearly-divine inspiration of skyscrapers, rather than just their height (thought height is still a definite plus!).

If I had to pick the most beautiful skyscraper, I'd have to pick the Chrysler building. The clean art deco lines and the stunning spire exude a class and opulence which is purely American. If I had to pick just favorite though, I'd probably choose the good ol' Sears Tower, simply because it was the tallest building when I was little and I've visited it more often than any other building. At only about four hours away by car, I get to visit Chicago on a fairly frequent basis.

I voted write-in since the most beautiful skycraper in my opinion is the Freedom Tower. It's going to replace the World Trade Center and also be the worlds tallest building. It is scheduled to be completed by 2009-2010.

I am a huge fan of architecture. My favorites are Gothic Cathedrals,Greco Roman buildings and Skyscrapers(Altough I didn't like the architecture segments im my Art History 200 class in 3rd year. The prof sucked all the fun out of it.)
I got nothing less than A+ in my grade 10-12 arts classes where I drew and sculptured Cathedrals, Greco-Roman and SkyScraper replicas.
So personaly I have to say, I prefer the original 1930s Art Deco Sky Scrapers which are mainly located in the US. (Ancient Egyptian enspired I should mention according to the original art deco architects.) It doesn't look ultra modern, but also not traditional. It gives a retro-early scifi kind of feel. Post Modern style art deco is o.k (1970s on), but its uses the art deco style very loosely having still all the international style elements in them, which is that basic glass and steel concept. So I vote for the most famous Art Deco building which is the Empire State Building.
Oh yeah, I am not American or even patriotic. So my vote is not a cultural preference but purely individualistic.

If some need more info on what to vote for:

The Freedom Tower will not be the World's Tallest Building by a long shot. FT is only supposed to reach 1,776 feet, while Burj Dubai, currently under contruction, is planned to exceed 2,300 feet to its spire. Some rumors place Burj Dubai's final height at almost 3,000 feet.

Here's a good diagram of the World's Tallest Buildings built and under construction: http://www.skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?14621677

After seeing the preliminary designs for the Freedom Tower, I bet it will be spectacular.
