You could have checked the Tech glossary at http://www.sscentral.net/tech/glossary.php

The check valve is the valve that keeps the water from leaving the pressure chamber. Freezing it makes it stronger I think. The stronger the better. If it is weak, the PC(Pressure Chamber) can't hold the pressure.

Well, I know pepper knows how to freeze a check valve. I think you fill it with epoxy, but don't count on what I say. Why do you need to freeze it anyway?

Oh, well, I don't need to do that to any of my guns..... :)

guns that have pressurized resoviours have one check valve on the pump, and guns that have seperate pressure chambers have 3 check valves in the internals.(although, on some guns, I can ever find the third valve, and I can't get how they work excatly. To freeze a valve, you cut it out, and put epoxy over the hole. I have a very thourough guide with pics and all, but I can't find a web hoster to upload my website to.

the check valve is a valve right behind the pump here's what it does when you and you pull the pump away from you the check valve shuts and a smaller valve opens then when you pull the pump shaft back at you it opens and water is then pushed in to the power chamber. theres a your info on the check valve. now your not stupid anymore :) . now about the freezeing part im not to shure about that when I get time ill look in to it. my moms going to think im crazy for putting a blaster in her freezer. :P . relly I would not do it.
