Vindocator Kmod

Post by AROCK » Sun Aug 22, 2010 7:59 am

I did a 45 balloon k-mod to my Vindicator with 14" balloons which i left part of the stem on. I don't think i could have gotten many more balloons, considering i had a tough time getting it back in the reservoir.

First I removed and filled the pressure release valve with putty epoxy. Then i cut off the cage thing that surrounds the pressure chamber and added 45 balloons. I also cut out most of the fan nozzle.

You can just keep pumping and pumping and it seems it never stops. I stopped at 60 pumps because my arm was getting tired. It has a pretty good kick now and it felt like it shot for a minute straight. I cant wait to time it and take some measurements.

Without the cage, you can pump until the PC pretty much fills the reservoir. It might be more likely to rupture though.

Yeah I don't want to rupture it. 60 pumps is roughly half of the resevoir and is more than enough for one shot. The stream that comes out of the cut out fan nozzle is insane. I can't believe the amount of water it shoots out.

People have been talking about this for a while, and it's good to see that someone actually did it.

I played around with drilling the nozzles out and i think the best size for distance is between 1/8 and 5/32 drill bit sizes. I also have 3/16 and 7/32 size nozzles and they are starting to drop off in distance but not by much, maybe about 2 feet.

So I measured how far the furthest nozzle shoots and it gets 42 feet and that's not to last drop. The large nozzle shoots 25 and the rest fall in between around 35.

Can any one explain how to measure how many X the nozzles are? How many ml or OZ per second for 1X?

If you're worried about bladder rupture from additional balloons, you can always put in your own PC with no limits on stacked balloons. (Except for the basic structural and PVR limitations if you didn't take out the PRV.)

Either way, congrats on being the first. I haven't had any reason to open up my Vindicator and have a ton of water guns that keep breaking so I never had time for a Vindicator power mod.

1X is one fluid ounce per second - although it should be noted that commercial X ratings are not very accurate and should be thought of as a "nominal" figure, with many blasters outdoing their X rating and others falling short.

That mod seems to be really nicely done. The cage really highlights the uniqueness of the Vindicator, even though it's been removed.

Also, has anyone else even opened a Vindicator and posted about it? Seems pretty easy in retrospect - so thanks a lot for the pictures.

Soakernerd has.

I wonder what the output is on the big nozzle.

The Vindicator is really easy to open and take apart. The hardest part was the pump cap and even that was not difficult to remove. Getting the balloons on was a little difficult as i have to leave part of the stems on to cover the entire bladder. Getting the bladder back in the reservoir was by far, the hardest part of this mod. It took a lot of squishing and bending but i got it back in without breaking anything.

If I can get some time tonight I'll try and measure the output of the nozzles.

I measured the output on the big nozzle and to my surprise it is only 8x approximately. Its a really thick stream and it looks like the 20x on my CPS 2500 with a little less distance but measurements proved otherwise. I did an 8 second shot and measured about 65 ounces of water in the bucket.

It's always possible the output isn't constant over the 8 seconds.
