Layer as many as you want. The more you layer, the more powerful it will be, but I probably wouldn't go over 5 or so.

Using the FF, how many layers could I add before I would need to disable the PRV? Does anyone know approximately how many pumps it would take after the modification? THANKS!!!!

There isn't really a limit before the PR kicks in. The more layers you put on, the faster it will start pushing water back in the reservoir, although eventually if you put on enough layers, it will kick in instantly. If I were you, I'd just do a check valve freeze along with the collosus.

Thanks. I don't want to disable the PRV just yet, though. I guess I'll start with five layers, and take one off until it can fire. Would that work?

Yes, but I'd probably start with 3 and see if it can fire with that.

Got it, I'll probably do the mod today.

EDIT: When I PRVD, where should I make the cut? Here's the picture from iSoaker. I couldn't resize it, so here's the link.

EDIT 2: I didn't have time to modify today. But there is something I should have paid more attention to: How should I open the casing around the PC? Should I just saw through it like on the AB in the colossus article? Or is there an easier way on the FF? THANKS!

You have to saw through it on every cylidrical CPS gun. And I don't know the answer to your other question.

Thanks, Martianshark. Here is the current list of modifications I hope to perform (and might need to ask questions about) Power - 6 layer Colossus, PRVD. Nozzles - A few different ones. PC - Expansion with 8" PETG, as Ben recommended 2 years ago. Other - Backpack, replaced pump rod.

TheDark, it sounds like you have some good plans.

I categorized the configurations of PRVs in water guns in this guide: http://www.sscentral.org/mods/prvd.html

The Flash Flood seems to have a type A setup.

As far as I know, the pressure chamber container needs to be cut open.

I'd be interested in knowing how many layers you could put on without disabling the PRV. Not too many people have talked about. Be sure to post what you find works. :)

Where should I make the cut? How should I seal it afterwards? Please answer.

I don't know much about PR disabling, as I said before, so I don't know.

I suggest cutting it near the nozzle end of the pressure chamber. Be CAREFUL, you don't want to damage the elastic chamber or anything else! Probably best to use a hacksaw and be gentle, don't try and do it with a knife.
I work on Windows. My toolbox is Linux.

It may be possible to make the cut close enough to the end of the PC case that the risk of hitting the PC itself is lessened and that you'll be more likely to hit the plastic connections.

At that particular point, you don't need to seal anything. Just make sure the new PC case or extension is attached securely. I'll need to have a look at the article since I haven't done this before either.

What do you need to cut for a colosus? I didn't know you needed to cut anything.
