Re: Replacing a spherical pressure chamber
Ok, so I guess 100 psi was not a reasonable goal(Told you I don't know too much about waterguns) . So, if the pressure chamber bursts, then what can I replace it with? (Other than balloons, if they're is another way.)(Or are balloons the most convenient way to replace the pressure chamber should it burst.)
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Replacing a spherical pressure chamber
I think there was a discussion on using c_nd_ms, since they're made with latex, just like LRT. I'm not sure whether or not you would be interested in trying it, though. You would be the first to, I think, because most of the people who have tried making spherical PC use balloons.

Well, that might work, although my parents wouldn't let me order one. (I don't even know where to get one new.) And to tell you the truth, I'm not too crazy about getting one for a watergun. Thanks for the suggestion, though. Is there any other item made of latex that could substitute a pressure chamber?
Thanks.
Would a whoppee cushion work?
Thanks.

Re: Replacing a spherical pressure chamber
I think the main problem with making CPS chamber guns is finding something to make the chamber with. You need a material that thick and stretchy, which is why LRT, c_nd_ms and balloons work (the last two being layered, of course). I'm not sure whether of not whoopee cushions would work, since I believe they're not made to stretch, which is an important factor.
If you really want to replace your CPS chamber though, I would just go with balloons. They're tried and true and they're easy to get (no ordering or suspicions )

Ok, so how many balloons should be used?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Replacing a spherical pressure chamber
The number of balloons to use would vary between people, I guess. If you're using it in a stock gun, then it's limited to how much pressure the pressure release valve can take. It's also limited by how hard you can pump. The best way to find out is to just keep adding/removing balloons till it seems like it's comfortable for you to pump while still getting decent range/output/shot time.11ilee wrote:Ok, so how many balloons should be used?

You'll find it annoying to get started. Take the pc out and stick an object inside to support the first balloons. Once you get enough on it they'll be strong enough for you to layer the rest without too much trouble.
Add as much as you have, then take off balloons from there. A 1500 should be able to take a good amount, and it's not a k-mod, so it should take more than if you were k-ing it.

What should I use to support the balloons?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Replacing a spherical pressure chamber
I'm not sure what other people would use, and since I've never done this before*, I can't really suggest anything to use. I'm guessing anything with the same diameter of the connection to the gun (where the stock PC connects to the gun; I've seen some with a plastic piece that fits on the inside) so the the balloons will fit nicely when you go to attach the gun, but I may be wrong.
* I tried layering balloons before, but it was with water balloons to make them less likely to pop ("Water balloon toss anyone?" , water balloon juggling) and I used a pencil...
Someone who has done it before would be more helpful, I guess. I think JLspacemarine did it for his CPH concept, so you could ask him.

Ok, so waterballoons are durable, and effective?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Replacing a spherical pressure chamber
I only said water balloons because that was what I was using at the park that day. Being water balloons, they break easily, so you shouldn't use them. Instead, use "helium-rated" balloons, like it says in the link in my last post. They're made not to pop and they're supposed to hold in helium better, so they're stronger; better for our purposes I guess.

Re: Replacing a spherical pressure chamber
So are "helium rated" balloons the same thing as a normal large balloon?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Replacing a spherical pressure chamber
Yes, it is about the same size. Be sure they are helium, or they will wear down, losing their elasticity quickly compared to the helium rated (latex) round balloons.

I'm not sure, since I've never experienced them for real. I'm only basing it in on somethi9ng I read from JLspacemarine. I referenced the thread a while back that has a bit of information on this that would be more helpful than me, so you can check it out.
