Most pointless blaster?

What do people think is the most pointless blaster? Not necessarily the worst, but the blaster that just too similar to others (particularly those released at the same time) to justify its separate existence

I'm going to say the Max-D 3000. It just doesn't have much more water or power than the 2000, and yet is hardly smaller than the 4000. The Max-D line would not have suffered from its removal. (Though the 3000 does LOOK nicer than the 4000 I think).

Also of note is the Incredible Hulk blaster. A rebranded Overload minus the backpack. A truly low movie cash-in. At least the Transformers blaster was a new gun.

And is the CPS 1700 anything other than a recoloured 1500?

Yes actually. All of the CPS 1500's faults were drilled out with the 1700 release.

Ah right. I wasn't aware of the 1500 having many issues, besides the screens in the nozzle misaligning. What other changes did they make?

Even if the 1700 is identical to the final version of the 1500, it still doesn't make it a pointless issue. A good gun is a good gun, and I would be quite happy is they re-released a good gun under a different name but kept it the same. Why change something that's already good? Of course, it is extra work to rename it, but as long as I get a good gun, it's alright for me.

I've already talked about the Incredible Hulk gun. A re-release that removes functions? Now that's really pointless! All the extra work--and to make it worse. Could you believe it?

Yeah, I suppose the 1700 isn't exactly pointless, just why was the name changed? I mean they've changed many guns between marks, and kept the same name.
Did the 1500 actually had a bad rep for issues when it was originally around?
Or maybe they just wanted to make out it was a new gun, so 1500 owners buy a 1700.

How about the CS MDS? It's nothing but a CS 60 with a movable nozzle ... seems pretty pointless to me. Why don't you just point the gun where you wanna shoot it in the first place?

Like the MDS, the XP Backfire's pretty pointless. The name's hilarious enough. You don't want your gun to backfire on your do you?

I can't say I've ever found myself in a situation where I'd need to shoot directly behind me and in front of me. The CPS 1-3-5 at least makes some sense, but shooting directly behind yourself doesn't, especially given that you can shoot yourself.

Bottle Shot, maybe? Sure, it can hold 2L bottles, but other water guns not only have more capacity than that, but much more power as well. I suppose it's all right for younger kids though.

Hm, pretty much anything from the EES line, as well as a ton of piston soakers that have been released recently that don't really differ from each other. Hydroblade would be another one.

The Helix Spiderman 3 is nothing more than a Helix with Spiderman colors. The only difference between the Arctic Blast and the Flash Flood (other than styling) is that the FF is bigger and the AB has the supposedly bigger cap for ice cubes (which can be put in any blaster). The Oozinator does nothing but get a bunch of disgusting green stuff all over you. The Shield Blaster offers little shielding and has no range. It wastes a lot of your water supply with it's three nozzles. Alright, one more, that's it. The Sneak Attack, which shoots to the sides (when selected).I know I have quite a list, but these are all very pointless.

There's more "nominations" here than I'd feel comfortable with. Most of these have "justifications" if you want to call them that. The CPS 1700 was the 2000 version of the CPS 1500 (which was discontinued). Movie cash-in water guns are probably profitable, as are gimmicks like the XP Backfire, EES line, MDS, HydroBlade, and Bottle Shot. While the gimmick usually is pointless in application it might sell well, which I suppose would be its true reason for existing.

But some of these don't really seem to fit any purpose. cantab's original suggestion of the Max-D 3000 is a good example. I can't really think of why it was made. The Max-D line does seem to have too many water guns. 3 would have been plenty in my opinion. The various piston water guns available seem pointless too.

Oh yeah, I can't believe I forgot the CPS 4100. They took the small Monster and removed the quick fill device, then renamed it. I mean WTF?

Though I suppose that might have been preferable to a completely new and worse gun.

I agree with C-A 99, the hydroblade is the most pointless blaster I've ever seen as it actually gets the person using it wetter than the target

I actually liked the hydroblade. Good sized for the younger siblings, nice to hold, and the blade is at least a fun gimmick. Granted not very useful in actualy fights, but it was still fun.

Rereleasing the Max-D Secret Strike when the Flash Flood and Arctic Blast were already out.
