soaker chat sometime?

Hey guys, its been a long time. I do have to apologize for something-last time I was on, I made mention of revamping GnG. Unfortunately life caught up with me and I've never gotten the chance. Turns out now that most of the computers I have access to for working on it have a rediculous filter to the angelfire homepage. Go figure!

However, I would like to know whats going on in the soaker world. Generations seem to pass soon, and a I'm stuck feeling a little old here. However, I would be cool to talk to everyone to get caught back up. I see isoaker is still around. Good man. Also that Hydrowar is still alive and kicking-kudos, my friend.

Whoever runs this great outfit...maybe a chat setup?

Welcome back! I actually didn't anticipate you coming back when I sent that email this morning.

I believe Hunter made a chat, though I never have been able to get it to work. We had been working on making an IRC chat, but I am unsure of where to get the IRC servers and how to run the chat. Chats don't seem to be as useful as they once were, at least from my recollection.

I also gave Maurader a large archive of things written by you and I believe that he is working on finishing some things by you. You might want to ask him about it. He said he wanted to archive GnG, and I had saved a bunch of stuff (over 30 MB if I remember correctly).

If you'd like to catch up to the current landscape of the online water gun community, feel free to pose any question at any forum. I'm sure you'll get an answer. ;)

Good to see you back again. You probably won't remember me, but it's good to have such a "famous" member back again.

I saw the email that got sent out. I was thinking wow I haven't been to SSCentral for months. I dropped by to try to stay active (hopefully  ) . Since I was last here the site has changed so much I hardly noticed it. Almost 200 more mebers have registred from when I first cam here. I have noticed some people like Blaze who was banned but then once he was unbanned didn't want to come back, Is now part of the community once again. Hyper9... well... he was always kind of strange (no offense), but he was also banned, but is also back. Now I wonder if anyone will remeber me ]= . Last thing Ben why did you change your name from Doom to your actual name. I always thought that you being called Doom was really cool :) . Thats all I have to say right now . Hope some people will rember me ;] .

Edit: wow, I thank you Ben, I always wanted to be a Senior member [= . I just noticed that .

Last thing Ben why did you change your name from Doom to your actual name.
There was two reasons really. My emails are sent from my name at the domain and I sign them with my name. Second, I never really liked the name Doom very much. I kept it mostly because back at Aquatica I had this silly thing going on about the video game Doom and everyone knew me by it. I think most everyone hasn't not recognized me as Doom, so Ben is here to stay!

Also, the Senior Member title is chosen by vBulletin, not by me. You're deserving of the title, but the real reason is that you have enough posts to qualify as a Senior Member, or you could have registered long enough ago to qualify. I will have to check the configuration, but I believe that the title is chosen for posts. You should be able to change it to whatever you want in your User CP if you would like to. ;)

Post a date that you want to have a chat and a bunch of people should show up.

PS:Most of my site is still under construction

PPS:I think that is the only page on my site not coded in php!

Hey Dave. Wow, I never expected to hear from you again (that sounds bad I know). I was thinking about you today because I was listening to Dogwood. Anyway, I'll save the small talk for later. I kind of drifted away from the soaker scene (though not entirely) about a year or two ago, but I found that I couldn't really leave it. There aren't too many sites anymore unfortunately, however all of the sites up now are EXCELENT. I think you'd be pretty proud of some of the content/mods people have come up with. Doomsoaker (Ben) sent me a ton of files from the old GNG site, and I still have a link to your site on mine. I know that as time goes by there are many other things that catch our interests, but if you do ever find the time and desire to revamp GNG we have all the files. I could tell you a whole bunch more, but I guess I should just stick to soakers. Glad to have you back.

This just occured to me, but if you're going to revamp gng, we could probably put you on a sub-server of SSN: no adds, and tons of space and bandwidth.

Thanks for the reply guys. I know the idea of revamping GnG is somewhere in the back of my mind. I guess everything would have to line up just right for me to do it, the biggest thing concerning time to work on it. If it ever does get to that, I'll definitely let you guys know. I appreciate the gracious offer to host it, and that would probably be the best route should such an endeavor be undertaken.

Marauder, Ben...glad to see you again. I know, its been a long long time. I've been out of soakers for a long time. But ya know, working with kids and always having an interest in a younger generation kinda lends itself to always having a liking of soakers=)

We should start working out a time where everyone has free, and then plan the chat. I appreciate soaker hunter offering his chat. Will that work?

Lets see...I am free on weekends mostly...Fridays in the afternoon, this Saturday evening after 5, and Sunday after church. I am in mountain time.

Let me know what you guys think.

As being the sorta owner of the upcoming SSN site, I give you a big welcome back! Even though I wasn't around when you and a lot of other veterans were around you were legendery! I wish I was around then.

As for the chat, I will be free this Friday, part of Saturday and maybe Sunday, I know Soakerhunter who is working with me on the site will probably be around on the weekend, but we will have to wait and see what happens.

I would love to see a revival of GnG! That would be awesome, as many older sites are now gone for good.

And welcome back, even though you probably don't know me, the last time I saw you on was back in April of 2004 or something.

A chat on a weekend could be worked out easily, most people here are either in Eastern, Pacific, or GMT. A time in the middle of a Saturday/Sunday would probably work best.

Hunter's chat would be great, except the problem is that I can't use it (as I said previously). I think it would be better to use a chat in a more reliable setting such as AOL instant messenger if we can't get an IRC chat working.

Can Trillian users access AIM chatrooms? I don't even have AIM anymore...Hmm, didn't know there was a 75 character limit, as I said what I needed to say in less.
