I have noticed no difference between my 1500 and my friend's 1700 (I have a 1700 as well, I just can't be bothered to take it out of its box ^_^ ). There might be a difference between the 1700 and the earlier 1500 versions, but since I don't know how to distinguish them, I can't say much more on that. The Aqua-Nexus has more info on them, I think. ;)

The diference is when the 1500 came out, it had some minor flaws (leaking, bright colors). So Hasbro made the 1700 as a fix-up on the 1500 (not saying the 1700 is perfect).

The 1500 has a tan, or "plastic" colored frame. The 1700 has a metallic blue frame. Other than that they are the same gun. I have both models, and don't see any difference, and never had any problem with either. The 1700 does look better. One of the best Soakers ever made, if not the best.

That's right King. They're exactly the same soaker, only with a different colour scheme, with the 1700 being easier to camoflauge. The 1500/1700 is one of the best Super Soakers there is.
