Why does my homemade stink?

I built a homemade, and it shoots to about 10 ft. It has one check valve and one ball valve. I will try to draw it out here:

pressure chamber
[ ]
[ ]
=P============[ ]
[ ]
==========(___)[ ]==P==to reservoir

(___) = check valve
P = ball valve.
= = horizontal pipe
[ ] =vertical pipe

First of all, you need two check valves. And one, not two ball valves. Post some real pics please. Text drawings are kinda confusing.

The first check valve has to be before the pump, the second check valve needs to be after. When you draw the pump out, water is drawn from the reservoir through the first check valve into the pump. When you pull the pump in, water is drawn through the second check valve into the PC (the first valve will stop it from going back into the reservoir).

In your case, it looks like water is being cycled around because you only have one check valve. Nothing is forcing the water to enter the PC and stay put.

That is what I meant. Pretty good for effectively one pump.

The spaces get truncated on the forums, so ASCII art won't work that way.
Edit: The

Code: Select all

 tags help. Keep in mind that it works on a monospace font.

Example:

You could even just draw a pic on paint or something.

No matter what was supposed to be posted, it still needs another check valve :p
