Hey everyone so I wanted to post my homemade it worked pretty Damn good other than having to do some work on the pump but first shots with it I measured a good 35-40 ft. The gun is a beast as its made from 3" for the res. As well as the PR.

The rest of the piping is 1" ( I used them cause I had the pipe laying around ) as for the check valves I had to get 1 1/4" cause that was the smallest size available. I also used a lot of galvanized steel reducers as they were available.

As for the PR tanks being up against the back of the gun it helps with the balance and it holds a lot of water. I'm not sure how the tanks in the back would hurt anything as its my first build but it seems to work fairly well

Here is a picture of the finished project I'm considering either moving the res. Off the back and using it as a back pack as the gun is still able to be dissasembled to work in it.

One problem with having the PCs at the rear of the gun is that the water has to travel all that length before getting to the nozzle, which can cause it to lose some velocity. Also theres the T-joint that the water has to pass before getting to the nozzle which can reduce lamination.

thats some of the reasons the PCs are placed close to the nozzle/trigger valve.

1 inch PVC is way to thick for a pump. 1/2 is the limit. You can get like 10 feet for 5 dollars.

My bad the pump is made with 3/4 " and a half inch dowel

3/4 is still way to big for a pump.

@atvan: Please allow members to build the way they want. He said in his original post that he was using the pipe that was available to him around his house. While his homemade might not fit your bill, it certainly looks like a clean job and for a first-ever-build, is actually quite impressive.

As a side note, 2 of the 4 APHs I have ever built have used 3/4" PVC for the pump shaft. Many people assume that 3/4" is bad to use because it is hard to pump. The real problem is getting a solid seal along a larger sealing surface.

3/4" is seen as bad for an APH because it doesn't build as much pressure as a 1/2". For an APH, you want lower pump volume so that you have a longer period of time to compress air. It goes the other way in a CPH, you want a larger pump volume to fill the PC with water and minimize compression of the existing air in the bladder. I tried both sizes on my old APR homemades and there was definitely a power difference and difference in range by as much as 5-8ft. I don't think either is harder or easier to pump than the other, that depends on how well the pump was made, not its diameter.

^The compression of air in the PC is independent of the size of the pump. 1oz x 10 pumps equals 10oz x 1 pump, whether you are using a small or large pump, the relationship between volume of water and air pressure remains constant.

Sorry if I came off as mean. That is a great build, very clean, and looks fairly easy to carry. Fairly compact as well. Have you considered painting it?

I don't mind a little constructive criticism especially since I'm a newbie and I did quite a bit of research on here before i even attempted to blueprint any designs as a matter of fact DX answered a few design questions I had posted not too long ago, thanks again by the way. As for the design I ended up with I just like the look and is pretty comfortable to hold since I can put it I'm my shoulder just need to put some padding on it.

As for the pump I really don't mind the size I'm not really building anything for any water wars its more of a relaxation thing and this won't be the only one I build I'm sure. I think I'm going to paint it but I haven't decided on a color just yet.

All a smaller pump will do for you is increase possible pressure. Not that big a deal for a gun just for messing around. Glad you like it!

Hopefully I will get some pics up for size comparison and of it firing I'm currently working on the pump it has a leaking problem at higher pressures but other than that it works well

BTW- the pump is 1/2 " I was thinking it was 3/4" this whole time cause that was the size of pipe I Had laying around. Sorry for the mix up!

En what i said was null. Lucky break. That makes this blaster great for battles, if you so desire. Have fun.
