Super Soaker Central

In progress. I am continuing the discussion from this thread, since that was meant as a general resource. This is the build log of this watergun.

last night the parts arrived for the blaster. It will use a soda bottle as the PC, attached via a Garden hose (which has the same threads as the bottle) to 1/2" NPT adapter. This is attaching solidly so far.

I will post pics as the gun takes shape.

I have the soda bottle attached with a fitting from mcmaster: 73605T84


I also found a very nice nozzle on Mcmaster: 7678T1. It connects to a garden hose thread.



I am using part number 6289K14 as the seal for my valve.


I cut about an inch for the seal, and it seals perfectly in 1/2" CPVC. The only problem is that it is really hard to slide. What lubricant do you guys recommend?

Vaseline, maybe? I don't know much about any other lubricants.

vaseline is probably the best option.

I am using " silicon spray " to get the pump smooth again. It also gives the PVC a longer life and improves all movements at all other parts of the gun, such as trigger-pullvalve and may it get stucked valves working again.

But if you do not have this, vaseline would probably be ok too, although I do not use this yet.

I have tried vaseline. It works beautifully for 10 minutes and then jams again. I will try silicone lube.

Did not I mentioned that silicon lube is better than vaseline? May that is the reason why I never use vaseline

I have not made bad experiences with silicon lube, it always did its job well

Graphite works, but only in dry conditions

I got it to work with corn oil. I just let the seal sit in the oil over night, and it still slides easily after a day or so.
I also made a very interesting discovery regarding the Vindicators pump: It seals perfectly inside my 1/2" PVC! That eliminates a huge problem for me.

The Arctic Blast pump also works in 1/2" PVC A lot of things do.

By the way, if you moved the second check valve so it was right above the tee, there would be less dead space. But then again, it would probably interfere with your trigger system.

I moved it to the top because the check valve screwed up the handle, the trigger system was fine. In any case, the dead space isn't much of an issue, as water is incompressible.
