Technically an air pressure homemade means exactly as it sounds there is air pressure generated by compressing the air in a chamber that exerts force on the water forcing it out of the gun.

You do not have to make an APH where you force water into a chamber compressing the air for it to be an APH. That is one of the 2 ways to make an APH you can also have a water chamber and force air into that chamber to generate the same force this method is more ideal for a large reservoir (like the ubersoaker design) but can be done in a smaller hand held. Fact the original supersoaker 50 was pressurized by an air pump not a water pump. Does that make it an ubersoaker classification?.

Last as an inspiration the water cannons in the fountains of Bellagio in Las Vegas are air powered with no mechanical pistons and fire from 100 - 240 feet strait up. Your concept may be plausible if you create a nozzle and firing chamber correctly. However it may not work the same with a horizontal fire. Your idea is worth investigating you just have to find a place to store water so you could refill after firing it off but that shouldn't be very hard to do with a manual valve added between your water storage and the firing chamber connected to an air pressure chamber.
