Wanting to Buy a CPS 2000 or A Monster XL

I am looking to buy a cps 2000 or a monster xl. It is okay if the gun has a few scratches here or there as long as the performance is not hampered. Also I would not mind if someone that had one of these guns, and if they knew how to modify them, if they did the modifications to the gun. But mind you the mods would have to work on the gun and could not cause it to work poorly.

Dude, you think you are the only one? Just about everyone wants a CPS 2000. I've been looking for sweet deals, but they are becoming rarer and rarer. I would easily take a CPS2000 in any condition. The only problem is they almost never come around now.
Monster XLs are selling for very high prices now. People think that just because it is thew biggest, it is tthe best. IMO, you should start lurking on eBay like the rest of us, because I doubt you are going to find someone on a soaker forum willing to part with their CPS2000 or Monster XL.

I had to pay a fair amount for my CPS 2000 and MXL. You can get them for cheap prices on eBay, you just have to be patient. I paid $100 for my CPS 2000 MK. 2, then a month later watched a MK. 1 go for $77. There has been a MXL on eBay all winter going for $50, it finally sold. The prices are starting to go to their highest point right now, early spring. Waiting until late summer or next winter would be your best option. I myself would prefer to spent $50 on a CPS 2000 next winter, rather than $200 just to get it this spring.

Patience is the key. Duxburian sure knows that, ask him. ;)

Judging from what I've seen on eBay, it is not the most likely place to find a CPS2000 or Monster XL for anything remotely resembling "cheap" or "reasonable". Too many people there know exactly how wanted these guns are and are pricing them accordingly. Both models are scarce and highly desired, so if plan on buying a gun like that on eBay, be prepared to pay the jackpot for them. I think you will probably have more luck finding for a cheap big water gun in more obscure places, like less well-known or local action sites. I bought a CPS2000 (mk2, I don't think the mk1 was sold here) for my collection last year from a women not that far from where I live for Euro 15,- (US$18,-). Not to bad a price if you ask me. Fortunately for me, the CPS2000 pops up every now and then on a local action site (actually owned by eBay) and demand is there, but no one is willing to pay extreme amounts for water guns in the Netherlands. Perhaps I should buy another one if they show up again and sell it on eBay. The Monster XL is a different story; it is quite rare in Europe (it was only sold in a couple of countries and was not released in the Netherlands, which has not prevented me from obtaining one). It easily fetches Euro 100,- or more in European auctions. I don't know if there any alternatives for eBay in the US that you may try, otherwise looking at garage or other second hand sales might be your best bet. Unfortunately, as time goes by, it will be ever more difficult to find one unless Hasbro decides on re-releasing them. Finding a CPS2000 for US$1 probably has a higher chance of occurring than a Hasbro CPS2000 re-release though.

Everyone wants the CPS 2000 and Monster XL. However think really hard about buying them.

They go for huge amounts, and they are massively over rated. I'm not saying I don't want them. I would love to have them, but I'm not going to splash out a fortune.

The CPS 2000 has a pitiful shot time and the Monster XL requires 60+ pumps and weighs more unloaded than many do loaded.

If you buy a cheaper and more common CPS, it can easily be modded to work similarly to the CPS 2000, or possibly "better"

Anyway, shouldn't this be in "Wanted"?

I don't see any use in buying any of these guns. Then again, I have long been turned off by high prices for overrated and no-longer-produced guns. However, for those not wanting to mod or build their soakers, there are still more practical choices--for example, the CPS 1500/1700.

Then again, we critics shouldn't be posting here--GituSlinger2 probably knows/knew what he wanted, and we don't have any offers.

Yeah GO ME. I am an original owner of a cps 2000 mark 1(the better version). and for the record I will attack anyone who tries to take this thing from me. It is amazing. It has significant recoil that can be felt and seen by others. It fires a liter of water in 1 sec and can shoot that liter of water 50 feet down range. It is the most powerful Super Soaker in history.

Edit by Silence: Please don't use all capitals in a sentence. Thanks!

Guys, for crying out loud, check the post dates. The last one before adsi's post was late 2007. This topic didn't really need to be resurrected.

Thanks, wierzbowski...I've been a little busy lately.

Tangentially, I wish all forums would warn people when accidentally posting in old threads and when inadvertently making double-posts.

Well... sad news...

My CPS 2000... finally died today. I've had it since 2001. So, she's had a good run.

I was in the middle of a 6 person fight, running and pumping and *POP*! I saw the pressure chamber fill with water and then water just pored out of the tip of the gun.

And of course, I ran in and looked for a new cool gun like the CPS 2000... nothing.

Oh well. When's the last time you had something made of cheap plastic with moving parts last 10 years?!?!

:D

I have a CPS 2000 I'm looking to part with if any of you may be interested. It's in good condition, apparently sun faded and is now gold in color, though, is in perfect working order. I'm working out a deal with somebody right now from Astria, but if i can get a better deal from somebody else, I'd be willing to work something out.
