I can't open my XP40

I was cleaning my room, when I found my XP40 back. Since it's summer I went outside to try if it's still working. Every time I pumped, I heard a "pssssssssss..." sound. So I tried to open my gun to check out what's wrong, but I can't get the nozzle off.

Could anyone tell me how to open the gun without to breaking the nozzle ?

Let me ask a few questions first...

Does the gun actually build up pressure? Does it shoot when you pump?

My guess is that there's a pinhole leak somewhere in the internals, so you'll need to open up the soaker and pump it up to see where the water squirts up. Seal up the hole with epoxy, and you should be set.

Also, since this is a PR soaker (it pumps air into the reservoir to generate pressure), you'll need to make sure the cap is on and that there's an O-ring inside the cap to ensure a seal. I got this tip from the bottom of the XP 40 at iSoaker.com, and it sounds good. With luck, you won't even need to open up the soaker.

However, I don't know how you would get the nozzle off. Maybe prying it off with a screwdriver if it was glued on would work...

Yes it does shoot but only if I shoot immediatly after I pumped.
Anyway thanks for the tip :)

Argh...I really should have asked one more question: does water leak out of the soaker? You might want to dry off the casing after filling so it's easier to see any possible leaking water.

And also...did the PR-only tip solve your problem? As I said, make sure there's an O-ring in the cap, and make sure the cap is tightened as much as possible.
