Email notification

Post by SEAL » Sun Aug 01, 2010 7:08 pm

I have a little problem here. You see, every time someone posts in a thread that I posted in/started, I get an email that says: Dear SEAL, so-and-so replied to the so-and-so thread that you posted in. Now this can get kind of annoying, because if I don't check my email for a while, my inbox gets clogged up with messages from this site. Besides, I usually go here most of the time. I don't check my email that often.

I tried to turn this option off in my user CP, but it still doesn't stop sending me emails. Am I doing something wrong?

This is the right place to post this right?

I assume it is User CP > Edit Options > Default Thread Subscription Mode: you have changed. Existing subscribed threads use the setting it was when you first posted in them.

You will have to go to User CP > List Subscriptions, select threads with the checkboxes (you can do it a page at a time with the topmost box), and then in the box that says "move to folder", choose "No email notification" (or simply delete the subscription) and click Go.
I work on Windows. My toolbox is Linux.

Okay, I just did it. I wasn't doing it right before. Thanks for your help.

Good to hear you fixed the problem SEAL.

The reason I set up the email notification like this was because we'd get a lot of people who would join, post a thread, and then disappear. I had figured that they forgot; the email reminder seems to help. But I can see it becoming annoying if someone doesn't know how to disable it.
