Chat

Would anyone be interested in having a chat? I'm considering starting an IRC channel just to see what would happen. I don't have much experience with IRC but I figure it would be worth a try. I remember a few years ago that I enjoyed the few chats people had so I'm wondering if others will too.

IRC? That's sooooo 1990's internet...

Why not have a Skype room? I do mass chats on Skype for my gaming alliance, it's unmatched for handling large volume and easy to use.

Well, I don't have a microphone and I don't think everyone here does, so that's one reason not to use Skype. But if you could set it up that would be nice. Give it a try.

You don't really need a mic. Most people use the normal chat features as opposed to calls. It works the same way as any other IM program in that aspect, all I need are Skype usernames and I can make a room in literally a couple of seconds.

I'm installing Skype as I'm writing this. I'll let you know once I get something working so at least we can chat.

After some thought I've decided to use an IRC chat. I'm looking to set up something like #waterguns on EFnet. I'm going to talk to some people I know who could help this and then I'll get the channel set up with a bot for administrative things and logging. We also can have a web based chat interface here for those who don't want to use an IRC program.

We had a chat tonight and I enjoyed it. With some more people I think we could have some really interested chats.

There's a Warhammer site I frequent which has a Starchat chatroom. It is in that chatroom which some of the best moments of that site's existence occured. One of the moderators had a bot which set up some very interesting truth or dare games. Although in recent times the chatroom has been very quiet, at its best it was one of the best things about the site. I think it would be very good for soakerdom as well.

Good to know that some other people would like a chat room.

The main thing preventing me from just setting up one quick on some place like EFnet is that I want a bot to maintain administrative powers and log things. Once I find a suitable place to run a bot we're good.

Any chance on resurrecting this? I go on a site that has an IRC chatroom that I used to frequent all the time(until I accidentally posted a link there instead of a PM and get permabanned). I could help out if we need any help setting it up.

Wait, so you got permabanned for posting a link? I know spam is a problem, but still, that's retarded. Especially as spammers won't try and use the same account more than once anyway. A short ban would suffice.

I'd love to start an IRC channel but I don't have time at the moment. If anyone starts one on their own that'd be great.
