Cps 2000 and monster xl

Why does everyone want a cps 2000 or a monster xl? It doesn't make sense to me. The cps 2000 gets about 3 shots and the monster always about twenty pounds. It also doesn't shoot that far. Just because its the most powerful gun doesn't mean that people should immediately spend a few hundred on it. :confused: :confused: :confused:

Well you know how people are. They always think the bigger and more powerful the better. It's just human nature. Sure, a CPS 2000 has an impressive shot, but it only lasts for a second, and someone with a less powerful, yet less thirsty blaster (Like a CPS 1500/1700.), can just run up and shoot the 2000 user while he/she's pumping.

I don't think this is the right place for this topic though.

Nobody here wants a MXL, unless for intimidation. The CPS 2000 has the best stock range, and if you tap shoot, you (or at least DX) can play a 4ish hour war on one full reservoir and PC.

I guess, but most people I know are too trigger happy and don't realize until it's too late. My friends are not that diehard, though.

If you only get 3 shots out of the 2000 you are using it wrong. You should never use full streams, unless you want to punish someone. The range makes it one of the best stock guns for elimination wars.

As for soakfests, I will just runaway and refill somewhere you can't find me (I'm pretty fast). So capacity does not matter... unless the only refill area is one where you can find me, then I'm screwed.

As for Monster XL. The MXL is awesome, yes it is very good. Yes it is under rated. Is it the best? No. Would I choose it about a CPS 2000, 2100, 1000, 1200, 1500.... in an elimination war? No. Would I chose it over a Max D 5000 or Shot Blast or Arctic Blast? Yes. But you have to be very athletic to handle it. If you aren't then it's no good.

An Mk2 2000 yields 6-7 tap shots per full pressurization. You need to be speedy with the trigger pulls in order to get the 7th shot. That makes for 18-21 shots on a normal loaded one, and 25-28 if you overload (I guess I'll borrow CA 99's term, it verbs better than "extra shot trick"). That is still pretty low, as a 2500 has obscenely higher tap shot capacity, but what's better, 70+ 5x 40ft shots or 28 ~28x 50ft shots? Depends on the conditions of course, but if range is a big factor, I'd take range over capacity. You get a lot more bang for the buck with a 2000 as you are putting out a ton more water.

You should not get caught pumping, except in emergencies. Tap / Pump even in a soakfest, IMO. That high range, spreading 2000 shot is good at keeping lesser-ranged things away. You can't always just take steps forward, either. Very few guns will go head to head with a 2000 evenly at its range and output level. K-modded guns have the range and stream speed, but lack the output. Homemades usually also lack the output when you get to 50ft. They are more of a wild card, however, as each one is different.

There is a better case against the MXL, as it can get bulky. It's a bad choice in a fast-paced war and it doesn't have good range. I'd take one over most post-2002 guns, though.

And I dunno where the 2000 field life rumor came from, but 28 tap shots really doesn't last that long. It depends on how much fighting is going on vs maneuvering and ambushing. A heavy battle will use up those shots fairly quickly. You only get beyond an hour if you aren't in traffic all the time.

@Marauder_4
On days when I don't have an "organized" war, I will sometimes have little soakings with my sister. I tell her that the cps 2000 is the most powerful water gun ever made, blah blah blah, and she goes for it. I then wait for her to exhaust the pressure chamber, and soak her with whatever I have. That's how I know.
@DX
I guess my fingers just aren't that fast, then. I sure can't do that many tap shots. I can get about five normally. I guess that's something to work on.

Trigger/tap shot repetition rate is not a well-known stat/skill. You need it in order to squeeze as many shots as possible out of low capacity or thirsty soakers in OHS or OHK wars without getting caught pumping. Best way to raise your repetition rate is to fire guns like the XP 150 and XP 75, which have the fastest triggers of all known water guns. Another way to wire repetition into your fingers is to make an APH with a ball valve trigger and do tap shots with it. It's more wristing than anything else, but it gets you in that mentality. Any rapidfire finger activity helps - piano players and card sharks make for good tap shooters.

Try practicing on a Max-D gun as well. The triggers are hard to pull, strengthening the trigger-pull muscles. Pull valves will be easy then.
