I agree with you, Cyrax. The lying is the worst part.

Goldfish, I haven't heard of any scams like that, but it's really common in electronics and the like. For the most part, these scammers are reliable about selling their junk.

I once didn't receive a Monster XL (without bipod) that I'd bought. I don't know if that was down to the seller or to USPS, however.

You should have assumed the seller didn't send. Unless he provides you proof that he did post it, then he didn't.

Personally I believe the risk of an item being lost in the post should in any case be borne by the seller, not the buyer (and that should be the case even if the seller tries to claim otherwise). I don't know what the laws are in different jurisdictions though.

Another UK scam with blatant lying, both on the gun and by the seller

That second one looks interesting- although most people can tell from the sticker it's not a CPS 1500. From the description, it says "get a soaking stream of water with every pump", I think it's a piston powered water gun.

Also note the cheap-looking trigger. Interestingly, that type of trigger is usually real (but of low quality) - but if this is a pumper water gun, then maybe it is a fake trigger.

Thanks for the heads-up, guys.

Well, hopefully no one bought in to the second one. Normally given ranges are exaggerated, so the 2 meters reported range could be a whopping 1.5 meters instead. :p

Guess what? The CPS 4100 has been faked! You may have seen it faked before but this is news to me. Click here to see it.

Hah. It looks about half the size of the real thing. The fake pump in front with practically nothing else makes me think it's a pump action, again.

It''s a very good likeness - except for the pump!

If I didn't know any better, I'd buy it just because it looks like a solid water gun.

The trigger looks real. I say this as a person who's taken apart a CPS 4100 before - the weak, SoakerTag re-release mark. The top of the trigger is very narrow, and the back of it is a slant to the bottom rear corner. You can see a similar design in the picture at the bottom of that page. Even the ridge around the edge of the trigger is the same. Wow.

I wonder how well it performs. I think wetmonkey442 had a good CPS 2100 ripoff...and since the CPS 4100 is from the same line, maybe they were ripped off together. ;)

I saw one of those in a Publix while I was on vacation, along with a fake 1000 and 1500.
also, I saw one on eBay before I joined, so I wasn't able to post it.

Watch out for CPS 2100s with nozzle selectors!!!

"HH Dream" seems to be as big a name in fake soakers as Super Soaker is in the real thing!

Also, I think sellers of fakes are just copying buzzphrases from whereever and each other. Things like "a soaking stream with every pump" probably DON'T actually mean it's a piston pumper - they mean the seller is copy-pasting from other auctions. Similarly, guns claiming to shoot 2 metres - I bet that was put in error by someone, and the scammers stupidly copied it.

It's likely MOST business sellers, whatever it is, and whether it's genuine or ripoff, don't actually test their wares. So they write their descriptions really knowing nothing about the product.
