@Juch: There are plenty of terrain variations; I avoided flat land whenever possible. It's hard to see them in the "satellite view" because of all the trees, but I deliberately wanted to avoid mountain-like features to preserve "realism." This camp takes place in a typical area relatively flat. Also, since I live in MI close to Detroit, I never see mountains lol.

I have both expansion packs and will be uploading the actual file when it's done, but you'll need both expansions to load it. I included two easter eggs so far but I'll get to those later. I'll have to look more closely for the items you mentioned since I mostly stuck to the building sets, particularly for the advanced training course. (The advanced course is somewhat brutal; I probably couldn't do it myself, but hey, it's just an RP.)

@Fred: That's exactly why I didn't want to go with a typical paint/paper drawn map. Thanks.

I stand corrected, this is much better then any map I could draw.

Today, I added a wooden house and the basic training area. The BCT course, located in Max-D Woods, actually isn't much of a course right now but more of a mini-battlefield that's somewhat symmetric and has two refill stations. It's fairly open but has a center of bushes and trees though I may want to replace them with artificial cover. However, there are two short stone walls which I guess are sufficient for BCT, as they serve as a range.

I also added an even more secret building in the middle of the woods, which is very related to the "?" structure. In addition, Ambush Trail has been cut off from the rest of the trails and simply starts at a dead end, making it actually difficult to find from ground view. The new structure related to the "?" is actually mostly concealed by trees though I can probably add more to it by putting in some overgrowth.

The Rec Field needs to be renamed. It is for duels and open water wars and any use of cover (other than shields and stuff that can be carried) is strictly forbidden. Any other use of the field, such as for ultimate frisbee or other non-water warfare recreational purposes, has no priority.

The wooden house I built today is close to the blue docking platforms. It will officially serve as living quarters and as a party zone. (It has a basement.) I will continue detailing the indoors of the buildings; "The House" needs a basement as well if I want to move R&D to that location. I originally built the wooden house for R&D. (R&D would be an armory and weapons workshop.)

Of course, I can't really detail the indoors. I can build the floors, stairs, fences, etc. but I can't place things like furniture, armories, workshops, hoses, etc. These important items will have to be marked in later. I may decide to "put" water weaponry workshops into the buildings' attics while marking armories at other locations.

I'm also going to build a new computer soon, which means I'll be able to take much better quality screenshots. In particular, I will be able to have anti-aliasing on the trees which will make the vegetation look much smoother.

Edit: I forgot to address an issue Juch brought up. Originally I didn't think too much about having only two barracks, and thought The House could also hold enough, but I guess the total won't get too high. I guess the wooden house I did today could hold quite some more, though the "leaders" will have to stay at The House. I never really designated any purpose to The House but now it's probably only good as reception. In this case I should add more watchtowers around since the way I set it up makes it look like The House is a last ditch defense point or something. I'll see what I can do.3

Update: The map is pretty much officially done. I only added one more living quarters unit identical to the ones from before, but I can add a 4th quickly. Other than that, I'm just about ready to take the screenshots but there's one thing:

My new computer I'm building will allow me to take better screenshots faster (though the only way they'll really be better is that there will be anti-aliasing for all the vegetation; everything else will look roughly the same), and it'll be easier to do (due to much higher framerates; I'm running down to 10fps when putting everything at full quality for the screenshots). However, I'm not expecting the parts to arrive until this weekend so it may be even a week until I can put the screenshots out. I can also take the screenshots tomorrow if everyone wants them up, or I could simply take a few more previews to show off the map in more detail. What does everyone want?

Wicked sweet map you've got there. I wouldn't worry about the interiors of buildings, they can be role played in, unless you have that kind of free time. We can probably get started now that there's an overall map and more people have joined. Does anyone want to create the premise? What is going on at Camp Water Warfare? Who is the enemy (or who may become the enemy)? What draws us all to this spot?

The map provided was intended to be a mere preview; everything has been done in high detail and I will setup many camera locations both from high up in the air to show more areas as well as on the ground to give a first person feel to the area, so for now I'll request that we don't use the low resolution preview map. I'll get the big high res maps out as soon as I can. Originally I wanted to wait until my new computer is finished but that may not happen until tomorrow or Sun. since I can take better screenshots on there faster.

However, I had something else in mind for depicting the story. I want to tell out the basics in a colorful propoganda brochure that the camp passes around. It'll almost be remnicent of how Half Life and Doom 3 start off, telling about the place before the enemy/problem.

I'll get to it right now and post back asap, no later than this evening hopefully. (But if my computer parts arrive before I finish, don't be surprised if there's a long delay as I assemble my new toy.)

I'll write this, see if you all like it:

Camp Water Warfare had long been famous for its no-frills training and absolute efficiency in training. Those who can make their way thorugh its highly demanding training courses and succeed in its tactical exercises gain the title of "Soak Troopers".

But with everything that stands great, there must be something that will challenge it. Scouts of Soak Troopers notice evermore the movement of unidentified enemy movement around the borders of C.W.W. patrolled area. Only the most skilled Trooper Scouts have found intel about these incredibly skilled enemies; that they utilise stealth as much as they can, and that their armoury consists of many prototype weapons, such as small WBL's that can be attached to guns and even talk of a lightly armoured improvided vehicle (LAIV).

With such talks and intel, anxiousness grows in C.W.W. The Soak Troopers mobilize....

Like I said, not final, but just a draft.

That's more or less along the lines of the story I was planning, though it's not hard to figure that out from the map. I wanted to bring the story about from a slightly different approach, giving more detail and life to the camp itself before focusing on the rogue activity and perhaps give a tour of the place.

I added one last building just before eating lunch, so I'm pretty sure the map's completely complete as far as that goes. I'll post an updated overview shortly.

Perhaps this RP could start with Camp Water Warfare doing a routine weekly training exercise: an assault course consisting of the following:

1. 50m Sprint
2. Running, with your chosen primary weapon and all of your gear, through a large forest of tall, wooden poles.
3. Enter a tiny "breach and clear" building. Throw a water balloon into a room and shoot three targets.
4. Run out of the building, as you leave, throw a flour bomb behind you (these work as smoke grenades, I have tried them before!)
5. Holster your weapon, go across some monkey bars that go up to a platform in a tall tree.
6. Zipline down to the edge of a small pond.
7. Tyre-swing across the small pond.
8. Sprint to the finish.

Obviously, the monkey bars/zipline will not be massively long because of space limits.

P.S. Is it alright if I get the ball rolling by writing a first part to the RP? I won't be introducing the enemy yet, I'll simply by describing my character's run of this course.

Ah crap, I forgot to create a building for the CQB exercise! I don't have any ideas for a cross-map training routine that could work though, but I could create a building specifically for CQB routines.

The "Advanced Training Course" is more for physical as it involves unecessary heights, rope climbing, etc. It's a high ropes course mashed with military training obstacle courses complete with water to catch those who fall (which is the only way to go here) and a zip line at the end. I don't have anything for rappelling though.

I took a bunch of screenshots too, but I may end up getting rid of them and re-taking them.

Fair enough; I could start with my character doing the Advanced Training Course if that's OK?

I just need to know which other character (which of you guys) would be the one who would be watching my guy do the course, timing me etc.

EDIT: I'm just going to post the start of the story anyway, using C-A_99's character as the watching-over guy. Sorry that this will be a double post.

I'll rename the character to "Eric" I guess.

Edit: Sorry about the delay on the map screenshots. I need to remove the UI but to do that, I need a guest in the park to activate the cheat. Looks like I'll have to setup a park entrance anyway... I'll bury it all underground so no one has to see it.

The computer's running great though. In the meantime, here are some older screenshots which I had to crop to remove the UI. Later, I will be delivering nighttime screenshots and possible screenshots in various weather conditions. Pictures can be used to assist the storytelling, and I will also post the file itself online.

The House. Shows more than the first preview. The House is obviously a main reception area with a recruiting center but also has a few living quarters and two armories for the tournament.

Low altitude overview of The House and the rest of the recognized campgrounds. Reflex Field hosts mini-team tournaments; symmetrical wars between designated teams of four. CTF is usually played and the boundaries are defined at the trees and pavement. (I can mark lines later on.)

Zen Warrior's Advanced Training Grounds. Obviously the advanced training course I've been buzzing on about.

Trainees start at the bottom and must run up the walls over the water by climbing or jumping over them. Then they climb the 60ft high wall and jump accross a high wall. (Which has some climbing on it if the jumper misses slightly.) From the wall they must jump into the second tower. After that they must climb accross a rope to the third tower. The next rope can either be moved through the same as before (hanging below) or by balancing carefully accross. Lastly, a long balancing act must be done before reaching the final tower with the two zip lines. The zip line is mostly a "reward" for completing the course.

Zoomed in satellite view of the suspicious area:

This photo was found on an SD card buried in the dirt along Water Bottle Trail. It is the only depiction of Objective Delta available and known to camp officials. Most are completely unaware of the existence of Delta, and it has been kept a secret by camp officials who are still planning to send elite teams to investigate the areas.

Camp Story: Founded in 2029, Camp Water Warfare originally started as a simple outdoor recreational camp for a generation of kids growing up on endless digital entertainment and media. The original small camp did not operate very well and was ready to close down until some water war enthusiasts from prominent communities seized the opportunity to advanced the cause.

At this time, water warfare is about as large of a hobby and sport as airsoft was in the first decade of the 21st century. The growth of technology, innovations from enthusiasts and companies, as well as word of mouth have spread the hobby around the country. Local water warring groups eventually turned into local organizations to advanced the sport.

A few members from these groups got together when the original camp started falling through. The camp was taken and renamed to Camp Water Warfare, led by three organizations, the Water Warfare Alliance. One of them is HydroBrawl Water Warfare (C-A_99's note: sorry to exploit this but I couldn't resist mixing just the name with a little sci-fi), while the other two have not announced themselves (Hint: give some input on this, whether it's the actual name of your group or a fictitioius one.)

The takeover by the Water Warfare Alliance in 2030 preceeded swift conversion of the camp to a place fit for water wars. Buildings were renovated and a few were added. Laminator field was added midway through the conversion of the camp, while the high ropes course was converted to the brutal Zen Warrior's course shortly after the camp started accepting recruits.

Now it is 2040. The camp just celebrated it's 10th anniversary with a large tournament taking place in Reflex Field. The turnout was considerably large, mostly from locals around the city who joined in though many were also recruited into the camp.

However, the camp's long buried mysteries not known to anyone have just begun to surface. While mankind continues in the outside world in their cities, facing the world's problems, this lone camp in the middle of nature has it's own. Weapon caches have been stolen, lights have been randomly blown out in the night, and some water sources have run dry. The hidden Ambush Trail only appeared recently leading to a very old wooden structure with a nearby pond. Since then, many warriors who have last been known exploring the area have disappeared strangely. The camp has recently declassified the two photos above, but very high resolution satellite photos that show the mounted guns around the wooden building as well as the details of Objective Delta still remain classified. They do not even appear on Google Earth's highly detailed 3D maps and models.
