Nerfers use custom copper, or PVC barrels to shoot the special sized foam. They use some sort of coiled roofing stuff, cut it, straighten it, then weight the front with ball bearings and glue. Thats really all I know.
Only a handful use copper, it rarely works correctly on most FBR. Brass probably is the most common. Schedule 80 PVC doesn't work very well compared to brass.

80's? No no no. 70's. Its never reached 80 here during december. And yes it would be fun to fight at Shelter island. I say we fight near the beach. Or around the bay area.
In I think it was 7th grade, there were 3 days of low 80's in a row in December. It was 2002, the year we got only 3 or 4 inches of snow. For Shelter Island, the best places to fight would be at the beach or in the bamboo forest. I really don't want to fight in the marsh or high grass because of the chiggers and ticks.

Two years ago (2002), my dad and I were able to go on a bike ride on Christmas eve! It didn't even begin snowing there 'till mid-January.
