The pump cap is there to prevent people from opening their soaker. No water gun company will ever endorse mods officially, for obvious reasons. The pump cap also serves another purpose, of making sure the pump has something it can slide on.

In guns like the 2100, the pump cap is there IMO only to make it harder to open. It isn't needed, my pump cap was taken off and put into storage just incase I ever need it again, which I highly doubt. The only time I'd put my pump cap back on is when I'd want to make it look completely stock.

well, doom, the pump cap is also there to look cool. you must admit that it does look pretty cool on guns like the 2100 and 4100.

When you are about to soak someone, even at point blank, they are not going to see the pump cap whatsoever. The nozzles would look a bit distracting. The pump caps Don't look cool. On the 4100 its not even that noticable, same for the 2100.
