UserID: 97 | How did you make the pump? I don't know how they work, so I would have no idea how to make one.

UserID: 1 | The pump was very simple to make, I made it up as I made the homemade. This should show you how I made the pump more graphically, don't expect those images to be up forever though, I want to make an article about pumps later. http://www.sscentral.net/images/homemade/DSCN0510.JPG There's the gun shown with the backpack. Notice the duct tape all over the backpack, you can't see it well but it's the only thing holding it together because the zipper broke. Also notice the puddle of water under the backpack, thanks to a spill. :Hey, that's funny.:

UserID: 108 | not bad. another way to figure out x value is to calculate ounces/second (what SS used to calculate their nozzles) |

UserID: 1 | Actually, SS used it based upon the output of an XP 70, which is one ounce a second. I use 29 ml a second myself, that's an ounce.

UserID: 97 | Ahhhh, now I see how you make a pump, but what is the material that fits inside the PVC?

UserID: 97 | No, not that. What do you wrap the electrical tape around. It doesn't look like PVC. Is it some sort of metal? or other plastic?

UserID: 1 | Oh that. It's a washer used to keep the pump from going into the internals, it fits in 1/2" ID PVC parts. I think it's the non-rust kind too.

UserID: 97 | Not that either. What is the long pipe or whatever that it the inside part of the pump. The actual pumping part.

UserID: 97 | Oh, ok thanks. I doubt its 3/8. 3/8 fits almost perfectly into 1/2 inch. Or did you use 3/4 or 1" PVC for your pump?

UserID: 1 | If I used 1" PVC, the pump would be so hard to pump it wouldn't even be worth pumping. I think I said I used 3/4" PVC for everything past the pump. For the pump and check valves, for numerous reason, one being cost (1/2" check valves are cheaper than 3/4") and another being the fact that anything larger than 1/2" likely will be too hard to pump. It's 1/2" ID PVC. The rod is, and I read it off the label (it's in the first pic), 1/2". 1/2" ID PVC actually is a bit more than 1/2" from what I know, it fits fine. Sorry about saying it was 3/8", it's pretty funny that I didn't notice that!

UserID: 1 | Don't use CPVC, it's more expensive and does not hold more pressure. It is only made from what I know to work better with corrosive gasses and liquids. Do not think it's better, schedule 80 or higher PVC is for higher pressures.
