Default Can anyone see this forum?

I just want to make sure I'm doing this correctly.

I can, but I don't suppose I count in this case.

I can too. I believe Authundir or Mars posted that they were looking forward to the forum even after this had been created. Either it's too obscure because it's at the bottom of the forum listing or the permissions aren't set up right.

Edit: I don't see any problems with the forum permissions.

I was Storm who said that actually, Silent. I think that everyone should be able to use this forum, but only for ThunderWars related discussion.
The only reason that we have posted nothing in here, is that we would like the Rulebook to be the first thing posted. Never fear though, as the Rulebook is nearly done.
And to ben, we really appreciate you giving us this space on your website. Thanks.

Storm,

Now that I think about it, there isn't much reason to have a hidden or locked forum, is there? Unless different teams are planning a huge water war against another team and they want their strategies to remain secret, it shouldn't really matter. Giving team members semi-mod status in their forums or a custom user banner would make more sense.

That makes sense. But if it's stickied it won't really matter, and it probably should be stickied anyway.

My reason for making it hidden was mainly to prevent others from reading plans. Though, that doesn't really seem necessary, at least at the moment. I'll make the forum public tomorrow and move it into the Water wars forum. Right now I need to go to bed.

I thought that it already was public? How come I can see it, I am not an Moderator?
If someone could explain, that would be great.

That's what the user group does. You're all in the Thunderwars user group which lets you see this forum.

Edit: This forum is now public and part of the Water wars category.

It's a good idea, but there aren't enough member (who use sscentral) in the Thunderwars Union, to make this work. It may not really catch for a while.

If you want me to delete the forum and add it later if/when there's more interest that'd be fine. I guess this is just an example of me thinking out loud.

No, don't delete it. I said it would take time to catch on. During that period, it should remain here.

Mars, I suggest reading through a thread properly before you post in it. This forum is not private anymore.
Also I don't think it needs to be deleted, as it is not hurting anyone by being here, an Mars and I will use still.

The point of having private forums was in case teams wanted to use them for organizing wars and the like - not that privacy is a huge concern there, but it feels more appropriate. If you do use this forum for that purpose, then it probably should be made private.

I suppose so. But I still think it may be a while before it is used for that purpose. For one, it's winter right now, so no games are being organized. I will do what I can to get members to register and post on this forum. Many get info from the forum, but don't post.

However, don't delete it. There is no need. I might get Macus or R!ot to register.

the main reason that many don't post, is that they lack the incentive to register. If you think back a bit, you will remember that we too merely browsed the forums and did not post. I also think that a lot of people feel that they have nothing to say and so don't register, preferring to read others ideas instead. This helps build up knowledge, so that when they do get confident enough to begin posting that they feel they have something to say.
