For every water gun we also link to other websites' reviews about them. Here's what's on the Max-D 6000's page:

http://ca.geocities.com/maddmaxstar/...d/maxd6000.htm
http://www.isoaker.com/Armoury/Analy.../maxd6000.html
http://aquazone.frankism.net/maxd/maxd6000.php

The review on iSoaker.com looks pretty detailed so I'd suggest that if you're looking for detail.

I wasn't impressed too much by the Max-D 6000 I used. It always seemed weak to me but I don't know if the one I used was a dud or not. I preferred older XPs like the XP 150 even though they often don't have nozzle selectors.

The Orca, Flash Flood, and Arctic Blast are probably more worth your money. That said, the Max-D 6000 is not a bad gun, especially compared to the crappy air pressure soakers that Hasbro's been putting out in the past few years. I'd recommend a nozzle drilling on one of the nozzles (to about 3-4mm perhaps), but either way, the range, as well as the pressure chamber size, is a little on the down side, but it seems to deal with larger streams better than the Orca does. Still, you can try it out if you want.

The review at iSoaker may contain some more on this.

Edit: Wrote this post before seeing Ben's.

Just a heads up: the ratings on iSoaker.com are based on size and don't compare all water guns. The Flash Flood and Arctic Blast are best for their size but definitely not best overall for power if that's what you were thinking.

The numerical 'output rating' and 'power rating' in the per-nozzle info table ARE objective - basically scaled so that the CPS 2000 scores 100 on both. I'm not sure quite how they define power, think it's based on range and output somehow.

Quick clarification:
From what I can tell, kevin71127 is referring to the iSoaker.com Rating for the Flash Flood that gives it a Power Rating of 100 for its size. As Ben noted, the iSoaker.com Ratings are subjective and based on relative blaster size. The actual numerical rating for the Flash Flood's "Flood" nozzle is actually "30.23" and, as cantab noted, is objective (at least as accurate as my measurements), calculated based on the Flash Flood's power rating scaled against the CPS2000's (presently the most powerful stock blaster) power rating. Power is calculated as output multiplied by maximum distance achieved.

Hope that clears things up.

The Flash Flood should score a 100 for power for its size. Its one of the few pistols that has a riot blast nozzle. With that said though, it's not a real monster in terms of power, just good for its size. It's one of the best available in stores now, though.

Yeah, I haven't used the FF, but I have the Arctic Blast, which is supposed to be a shade weaker, and still like it. Because it's CPS the stream doesn't drop off, unlike the (Aquashock) Secret Strike to which it is otherwise similar in range and stream output. And the riot blast is great if you get the chance to use it.

One thing that would improve both guns a lot IMHO would be for the riot blast trigger to be positioned so it can be used one handed.

Do you know where you saw the Max-D 6000?

The Max-D 5000 impressed me more than any other small soaker I've seen. It's probably personal experience more than anything else, as I've had bad luck with XPs, but I'd still like to get a 6000.

I've found the MD5k's performance to be fairly similar w/ other similar small soakers, like the SC400 and Oozinator. Its capacity is its main highlight, being the largest PR I've had and seen.

The MD6k presurizes very fast because the pump is fast, it has a reasonably decent pump volume, and the PC's are somewhat small. (though not unusably small like the Arctic Shock or Defender)

A single handed riot blast trigger would indeed be very useful. In fact, all they would have to do is use a similar trigger to what they have right now but place it on the side of the gun so it can be activated by the trigger hand; the palm on the handle and the fingers on the trigger. Plus, what could be more kickass than releasing a riot blast while holding the blaster gangster style?

Lots of stores are selling them now--check amazon.com, Walmart, etc. Apparently the 6000 has been re-released under different colors.

By the way, would you say the Max-D 6000 is better or worse than the Flash Flood?

The Flash Flood is likely a bit better than the Max-D 6000. Though the Max-D 6000 has four nozzles, the Flash Flood has a riot-blast nozzle, which many times is invaluable. It also is CPS and can be upgraded fairly easily. The both have about the same range. Though, I can understand if you think the Max-D 6000 is better. Some people dislike riot-blast nozzles, and as long as you don't care if it's air pressure, both are pretty much the same.
