Anyone around with hands-on knowledge of Classics and old XPs?

I've been testing my older guns to find that hardly any actually function properly. 2 XP 150s, 2 XP 75s, 1 SS 200, and 2 SS 50s all fail with the same problem. Basically, they all phail to pressurize or shoot - water spurts out from the bottom. I think it might be a trigger valve related problem, but I've never opened guns of such age and therefore really don't know how they work.

In the next few days I will be attempting repairs on these guns and documenting as much as I can, for it seems that they are not well supported in terms of repairs.

Trigger valves on those older Super Soakers are different. I've opened all the blasters you mentioned except for the SS 200. Granted, it's been awhile since I've looked at those internals (and I opened them before I had consistent access to a digital camera). There's nothing too different about how the old blasters work versus the new ones except for older trigger systems. The SS50 pretty much just pinches tubing closed. I can't recall whether the XP75 and XP150 used a ball valve or a funny pin-type nozzle valve, though. My memory is hazy on that. Of course, once you open them and see for yourself, it's pretty straightforward. As for finding the source of the leak, part of me suspects internal tubing leaks or even the pump. Pics always help.

Both use a pull valve as evidenced by the XP 75 patent and this internals picture for the XP 150. My guess though is that it's a crack in the internals at the end of the gun. The SS 50, XP 75, and XP 150 all have pipes that run up the end of the gun, and if it's broken, the gun can't pressurize. The only real way to know is to open up the gun and look.

I don't have any repair experience with older XPs and Super Soakers, but I'll try to point you towards some pages you might find helpful. Likely these water guns have bad seals or internal leaks.

The XP 150 has a pull valve, not a ball valve, and that valve apparently can break. XN had a repair and it's one of the links below.
