The XP 215 is good for its size, but it's far to small to get any use. I have one and have never used it during battle, but I did have some fun ambushing people during a canoe trip I went on. I suppose every soaker has a use, right?

Personally i think an xxp 275 has really good power, range and soakadge in a decent sized package. Thats why its my favorite gun that ive used

If you are looking for a gun that is a little younger and easier to find than the ones already suggested, then I would have to Reluctantly say the Liquidator is a Great Light arm.
However it uses the Pressurized reservoir so you can not refill it when charged.

In my opinion, the Liquidator, isn't such a bad gun. It gets pretty decent range and the output is bearable. The pressurized resevoir is an issue though.
If you see a Liquidator you should probably get it. I've used one in several wars and been incredibly effective.

For its size the Liquidator does what it's supposed to. Generally I think both Hasbro and Buzz Bee Toys make good small water guns. I agree that the pressurized reservoir is a problem, but there's not much you can do on smaller water guns aside from piston and pressurized reservoir designs.

Xp 105. I don't own one, but I've fought with and against them. Rangewise they seem capable of rivaling the smaller CPSes (1000 and 1500). I haven't done proper tests though.

iSoaker's tests show that the XP 105 only gets about 30 feet. But that doesn't mean that it's not notable. He likely fully pumped up the chamber and then fired. In battle, that doesn't always happen; you'll likely keep pumping while shooting. The XP 105 has a pretty high pump volume (iSoaker says 55 mL), which likely would increase the pressure while you pump and shoot at the same time. This pressure increase will increase range during a fight.

Hmmm...I never pump while shooting. Rather, I (and others I know) set store by holding the gun as still as possible when shooting - moving it tends to hurt range, if only by a couple of feet.
Also I consider iSoaker naive in testing at level and 45 degrees. Due to drag maximum range will be at an angle LESS than 45 degrees, and the optimum angle will depend on the gun. Fatter streams will want a higher angle as drag affects them less. So testing at 45 degrees is going to bias against guns with fast but thin streams ie bias against XP class relative to CPSes.
Or maybe it could be a perception thing rather than reality. It's easy to stick the 105 far from yourself, I might be remembering when the wind favoured the 105, the CPS might have had a weakened output for some reason etc etc.

iSoaker probably just messed around with the angle, found the maximum distance, and called it 45 degrees. It's fairly hard to measure angles, and since we just care about the maximum range anyway, it's probably not that big a deal. "45 degrees" is misleading, though, and you could be right.

In practice, I don't really pump while shooting anyway. I usually don't use more than 2 seconds' worth of water per engagement, and I usually pump right afterwards. Kinda like in a video game.

Ben and I never really refer to it as 45 degrees on the site. I believe we call it "Angled Range" since no one is going to get a triangle and measure the angle you're shooting at. We just angle it until it peaks and take the range.

I actually pump while shooting a lot. Maybe it's just because I like it being fully charged.
