UserID: 1387 | This is probably a dumb question, and it probably involves duct tape or electrical tape as well as a hacksaw, but what do I do if some of my screws keeping the outer casing on strip/rust/won't come off? Last edited by Andernerd : 09-25-2007 at 06:13 PM. Reason: typo |

UserID: 320 | The best method would be to drill through the bad screws to make holes for new screws. Be careful while drilling; damage to the soaker is possible if this method is not done correctly.

UserID: 576 | I agree drilling is the best solution. Still, note that you will not be able to use that screw again (but remember, you don't need all the screws anyway). Make sure you use a powerful drill that allows you to really tighten the drill bit. As long as you orient the drill bit correctly, there should not be much of a problem while drilling.

UserID: 75 | You can also attempt a reverse drill first, using a phillip's head drill bit. That is more effective on rusted screws than stripped ones, though the success rate is not generally very high on either. It's worth a try, as if the screw is totally done, reverse drilling can't make it any worse.

UserID: 1090 | what i personally would do, is take a pair of needle nose pliers, and twist the back screw out, and get new ones.

UserID: 1387 | Thanks for the help, I'll try all methods listed.... the drillings sound like a good idea, but I dont think needlenose pliers would fit... they might though. |
