Default Engine powered water gun

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgVU9yBChz0

Check out this neat link. This water gun is powered by a small gas powered motor. It operates very closely to battery operated water guns, except it uses a small engine instead of an electric motor. Much more powerful.

If they made water pumps small enough, they'd make great water guns. Making your own pump with a small engine might be a good idea. I could imagine upgraded versions of this design.

Yeah this is an interesting concept...just needs a much more powerful motor thing

I dunno, that motor seemed powerful enough--looks like it shot a squirt gun-sized stream at least 30 feet, and barely at an angle! You could see how fast the stream was moving--pretty impressive. A 1/8"-1/4" stream would probably be really nice, depending on the strength of the motor. Pretty any engine hits around his range with such a small stream.

Nice video clip, the gun actually looks pretty neat and powerful. Nice find indeed, Ben.

Larger versions of this would probably be heavy, but worth it. I wouldn't build one though, as I don't like engines due to environmental reasons.

The bad thing about small motors is that they don't have to comply with any emissions standards in the US and usually are noisy. My father knows a thing or two about them however and I might try something depending on my free time this summer. We have plenty of old model airplane motors without a real use. Definitely a project worth attempting.

After that, who knows what someone else might attempt. Fuel-cells? Biodiesel? Electric but with a superior design? Very interesting idea now that I think about it. The entire concept of no effort water guns intrigues me very much.

OFF TOPIC: Since you went off topic with the enviro comment I must add that batteries are much more dangerous than gas powered motors. Bury one in a flower pot and pour a little water on it then set for a few days. Creates some pretty nasty stuff. Multiply that time 1trillion batteries!

Which is why you don't dispose of batteries yourself. There are various recycling services.

hehehe

that's my point dawg. Everyone throws away batteries in trash everyday. Everyone drives cars and utilizes gas powered engines for a multitude of things.

The thought of that little micro-engine being an environmental problem is "cute" at best. Again, not personal, just thought it was funny.

Best regards and keep squirting!

Btw: I'm very interested in your opinion on my post in the physics section under constant pressure concept please check it out
