UserID: 549 | This topic is both here and at WWc for a bit more coverage... I had what I could describe as a stroke of genius, or equally easily, insanity last night. Baths are such good places for both. I was thinking about soaker/Wbl combinations, and after a bit, my mind settled on the original combo launcher - the M16 and M203 - giving me the concept for the S16, with WB203 launcher. It's the sort of thing I'd probably suggest against if anyone else had put it together, but, insanity reigns… I realise there are issues with it looking too much like a real weapon, so I'll have to be careful - if it ends up looking as close to an M16 as I hope it could. Realising that there was a viable configuration for the set-up, within the rough sizes of the original design, I got out of the bath, found a towel, and started to put ideas down on digital paper. I can completely understand if you shoot it down immediately… However, it really sparked my imagination, and so I thought I'd let it run its course on the internet. Rough Design - Exterior and cut away versions. Doing a little maths, it's not impossible to do, and not totally puny. The concept of combined soakers and wbls has been around for a while - it's a good concept, but needs the right execution. The CPS chamber, mounted in 3" pipe (a little high, but…) would yield about 1500 - 2000 ml of capacity - not massive for a homemade, but notably higher than almost any stock weapon. A colossus should allow 50'+ of range. The "holes" - characteristic of some M16s - could act to prevent air pockets in the chamber. The pump is linked to what would normally be the breech load for the M203. The pump would be both tracked and easy to grip. Just an idea, but would a 3/4" pump be viable for a CPH? I wouldn't know, never having worked with anything far from 1/2"… The under slung wbl would launch in the 50 m/s area, which is fairly notable, in the same region as the Douchenator - given the smaller size, very respectable. The QEV is an exceptionally powerful valve, and is hidden in the magazine housing. The blowgun in place of the trigger would set off the wbl (I can foresee a few mistakes while getting used to it). Range would be about 300 feet. The wbl chamber is filled via a bike valve in the pistol grip. A rough estimate for the stock reservoir would allow a re-fill or two of the chamber, and it would be easy enough to fit a backpack. The magazine might hide a quick fill port, to quickly fill the chamber from an available hose. Obviously, the cool factor really starts to cut in - it's not something that's simply PVC pipe any more, and it could really win over some people into soaking with any luck. Hopefully, the attempts to mirror the appearance of an M16 shouldn't limit performance too much, if at all. As far as I can tell, the design should actually have no issues - there might be more efficient arrangements, but that's not a huge issue. The soaker as a whole should prove a very convenient and usable package, combining the hit of a CPH, with the range and power of a WBL. Any comments?

UserID: 576 | I did suggest a WBL attachment for a homemade long ago...but I shot myself down, not anybody else doing that for me. For this, it would be easier to make it resemble any old assault rifle with any old grenade launcher, as opposed to an M16 with an M203 launcher. Note that the weight and performance would be low... The CPH part would be possible (try using vinyl tubing to get the water to the front), but you would really have to be creative with connecting all of the components and with creating the stock--kudos to you if you can do it, though. There are a couple of problems with the WBL, though... First of all, you would really need a lot of space for the air tank--unless that part included a high-pressure metal tank and similar metal tubing. Also, the bore of the launcher would be small--probably not more than two inches--and short, but then again, the accuracy isn't completely necessary. Somewhat far-fetched, but possible. One other thing, about the triggers: mount the WBL trigger on the QEV itself, and then somehow connect the main trigger into the correct place. It's possible. I'm also looking for an explanation on how QEVs work--I'm kinda confused. I didn't know they could have a separate trigger as in the drawings...

UserID: 320 | I like this design but I have one tip. Actually build it. I don't know how many creative designs just get designed and then left alone because they are not designed to be built. Your next big step should be redesigning based on available materials. My first homemade is still not completed finished because ideas needed to be reworked to actually be built (and school started again so I ran out of time). Make a very detailed design with measurements. Good luck with the building.

UserID: 549 | This was largely designed to be built, basing it on materials I could find. I wanted to show that a one piece homemade/wbl combo was a viable design (Despite the fact that a back pack is an option) and it could be battle practical for both soakfests and 1HK fights. I chose the M16/M203 because it's probably the most famous combo, and even if it's not 100% right, people would still know what it was meant to be. I might build a trigger pull for the ball valve (like the link shows), in which case the blowgun would be relocated. There might be issues with the stock, but there are enough resources out there to let it happen. If I'm forced to, then I'll locate a vacu-form machine.
