Well, if I'm just shooting water, valves with somewhat high speed such as metal ball valves will serve--it doesn't matter if a little water gets out early, which is very unlikely with the metal ball valve. A PVC ball valve, on the other hand, will not do.

I'm sure metal ball valves are linear--hence the name similar to standard ball valves.

On WBLs, it really doesn't matter how linear your weapon is (except for the barrel), as the gas that is released isn't the actual stuff being shot. In an ITWL, however, you will want linear flow, and the same goes for HPCs.

Your large 5-gallon has been thought of, and IMO, it will only work with LRT. Otherwise, you simply won't have enough pressure for the last 2/3 of pressurization unless you leave substantial air or PreCharge it.
