Earlier today we had 5 people and lots of activity at the SSN chat. I'm inviting everyone to come along and chat whenever you feel like it, although I will still hold specific chat times.

If other webmasters don't mind, I would like chats to be exclusive to SSN.

Currently no other sites are using chatrooms, so I don't think anyone minds...for the moment. -_-

Though no other sites have active chatrooms, it's not appropriate to ask other webmasters not to add a feature to their site. For instance, would it be fair for iSc, SSC, or SM to ask all other members not to run their own forums?

Uh..I'm not using forums anyway...and I asked because right now the chat is the only thing SSN is known for...after I get some other stuff up I will be fine with it, but I dont want people to leave and forget about SSN before I even have it started...

It doesn't matter if people forget about a site before it has content up! More people would come to SSN for the content than the chat. While you can claim concepts, you can't really claim features.

Ok...but if I recall correctly, everyone was saying that a chat would be totally unsuccessful, and didn't want one; except now I've proven them wrong.

It has not stood the test of time yet. It can be called successful if it lasts for many months and/or years.

that is the initiative thinking we've all been waiting for!
I think that initiative like that should be rewarded, perhaps with a period of exclusitivity of chat for ssnation?

Wow guys, this topic is old, but I have an update. The chat is now in php, so the new URL is

http://www.ssnation.net/chat.php

Now I don't really care if another site has a chat, although it would still be nice if it was SSN exclusive. It seems though that no one is going to have one anyway because the idea has sort of died.
