go to your local (NOT auto) glass shop, they should sell it there in large sheets. it's a form of plastic, but it's extremely tough and light, plus it doesn't crack or shatter. another good material, if you could find out what it is, is the stuff nalgene bottles are made from.

Also, something much better than acrylic or plexiglass is Lexan.

Plexiglass is great, until you get it wet and then get some dirt on it. You CANNOT wipe dirt off plexiglass or you will etch it (meaning, you will no longer be able to see thru it clearly)

Lexan is great... you can fold it, hit it, its very strong but easy to work with.

Get a 1 mm thick sheet of Lexan and throw a rock at it, you won't get thru unless you have a sharp, sharp rock.

If I were you I'd use 2mm Lexan, it will take a beating trust me. It can also get scratched like plexiglass, but not half as badly, and if you polish it with a rag or something you can get rid of more of the scratches.

Lexan is what the police riot sheilds are made of... aswell as many other bullet-proof things, if that makes you trust it more! Hey, that's funny.

A tank is improbable, It would be a better Idea to make a gun turret style thing, which can be carried onto a battlefield, and then have one or two men shooting through one-way gun flaps.

I would make a "tank" based on the battlefield. For example, on a large field you want it to be large and strong, it can be heavy. In a wooded area, a tank is not advantageous and therefore it would have to be smaller and light. You also want to be able to shoot out of it in any direction. Many anti-tank tactics would take advantage of its lack of mobility. Any tank experiment is also going to be very expensive. I would save that money for more useful weaponry.

Still, a tank would ROCK! The only problem is, in 1HK games, how would you count it as out? Just one tank could destroy everything!

Couldn't you just find an old riding lawn mower at a junkyard, build a new frame, attach the engine, and build the tank on that?

Idea I just thought of, make it like a portable-wall.

Get 2 people behind a wall type structure that is half-moon in shape and (due to the shape) should stand on its own. Make turret holes in it, etc.

Carry the wall while staying behind it. Set it on the ground, shoot people, push them back, etc. Rinse, repeat. Should work fairly well, because once you set down the 'wall' you could concentrate on shooting rather than carrying the thing & shooting at the same time.

I thought of a similar idea to a tank at the beginning of the summer. It was more like an armored car, but I thought it would be completely unpractical. Here's the drawing I made of it. (The bubble like thing is meant to be something like a turret)

read the backlog before you post. I suggested making a wooden frame and attaching rubber wheels, so it could go offroad a little. you could have small support beams running along the bottom, to hold up a large piece of particle board for people to stand on.

Dux and I had an idea of using his uncles golf cart as an (assult vehicle)[spelling?] We would have the driver concentrate on driving, someone sitting next to him with a big gun, 2 people hanging on the back with lighter weapons, and possibly someone on the roof. :Hey, that's funny.: But unfortunatly the golf cart broke. <_<

I think you would have it built like a human powered float. With a bike in the middle (or just people pushing it)
It would have a wood frame, and you could shoot out of cat doors. (have them set to out but not in, so that when the enemy shoots water doesn't spray in. Then the turret could be a very large breach loading WBL.
As for how it gets hit. Soakertags finnaly have a use! You would put one on a heavily guarded part of the tank. Suck as the front of the turret or something :P
