I've got nothing against starting a new board from scratch. I am a member of several other soaker forums, but there's just something about WWn that I like. Even if it means losing all the posts and starting new accounts, I'd like to have it back.

Soakologist, lets not let history repeat itself by creating boards like that. iSoaker has his own iSoaker.com board and already is redirecting people to here and a few other forums. I don't think that he intended to have an interim board for WWN.

I don't know why iSoaker just doesn't delete the current board and make a new one. That should leave them with enough space, at least I hope. In reality he'll probably just promote the iSoaker.com boards like he did the WWN ones.

Here I am... a refugee of waterwar.net.

I'm hoping that waterwar.net doesn't get rebooted. While I enjoyed my time there (as well as my brief stint as an administrator), the waterwar.net webspace is out of our control in terms of payment and setup (from what I understand). Its just too unstable. It looks like the water war world is fractured with its passing...maybe this'll be the next big board, who knows.

Any theories on what happened to ww.net? I know the webspace or server got clogged...but the timing, it coinciding with the 4th, makes me think we got hacked. I don't know why the 4th would be connected, but that just sets off alarm bells for me.

That's it! Al-Queda hacked WWN!

Actually it is strange that WWN died on July 4th. SSC is run by an American, and WWN by a Canadian. That is too weird...

I really don't think that starting more boards is the answer. I've done that, believe me. After the first Aquatica iB died I tried to start my own little board. It failed, and kept failing until I got down to business and started SSCentral, which still took several months to get rolling. All creating more boards does is fragment the community when you get down to it.

If you can start a good board, go for it. Just make sure you put some time into it, and don't cut corners. You may very well have to pay for hosting to get it, forums on free hosts and forum hosts typically are not as appealing as forums on paid hosts.

I hope this isn't goign to have the same effects as the end of Aquatica. I'm glad to see that SSC is still going, because at least now we still have an amazing forum to help keep the internet community together.

The timing may not be that odd. Extra traffic from the 4th may have knocked off more boards than just WWn, has that been checked? I g2g, more later.

Hey, that's funny.... clueless about forums (and yet I run one myself Hey, that's funny.)

Regardless, we'll make it through this crash. The end of Aquatica was devastating because there was no other large site to go to, at least that I had ever been to. Isoaker has links to 2 other great forums, including SSC, and a backup board for WWn. I think over the next few days we'll see that this will work out just fine.

You can pretty much ignore the times on that, I rarely ever have Xfire on when I play. I should, though.

The general rule is... wherever iSc goes, the community follows.
(The interim forum wouldn't be run by me... it would be run by iSc. Shows how much you guys read...)

iSoaker said when starting WaterWar.net after the first board loss if something similar were to happen again he would not create a new board, just join another.

Oh and BV if you don't like SSC why don't you get the Hasbro HQ out of here, mmkay?

RIP WWN

(November 26, 2002-July 4, 2004)

And I think M4 deleted the iYouth forums, and the Clubaquatica forums are run by cloug Hey, that's funny..

Only the Yahoo! Club, ezBoard and Aquatica iKonboard were run by iSoaker. The Aquatica MyiKonboard, ClubAquatica.net and the iYouth Aquatica were run by M4. I was a member of all of them when they were being used except for the Yahoo! Club which I joined later after it died. This is everything that is still online:

http://www.clubaquatica.net/phpBB2/index.php
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/aquatica2/
http://aquatica.myikonboard.com/viewboard.php

My personal favorite Aquatica was the first Aquatica iKonboard. For those who remember, that really was awesome, even though I was essentially a inexperienced user there.

They left the original Aquatica Yahoo! Club because of the Groups change, I think they didn't like Yahoo! Groups. The ezBoard went a while without ads, but when they turned on it became very annoying. That was wen iSoaker and a few others started the first Aquatica iKonboard. The first iKonboard they left because for some reason they didn't want to run it without FTP access, what iSoaker had but didn't give anyone. It was working just fine though, I think they should have stayed there. The MyiKonboard was left because of problems with the board, iB PHP was (and still is) not developed very far. ClubAquatica was very nice, but the domain and hosting being owned by Cloud created problems when he locked everyone out of the board. That was when they moved to the iYouth server, run by mafo0. M4 got loads of help and it actually turned out fairly nice. Because of complete inactivity from what I know they closed the iYouth Aquatica. The iYouth site also went down some time later.
