UserID: 215 | I'm not getting mad at you or anything but whats your point? I didn't say the guy didn't invent it. I just said 'This talks about collosus modding' , 'I hope it helps you'.

UserID: 223 | Ok Thanks for the input all. Unfortunately, there aren't any 2100's available in my area. So I got the 4100 instead. Well, I was going to wait until the summer camp was done to mod it (just so I wouldn't accidently hurt anyone in case it got more powerful)... ...But now the trigger has broken! Yes, after only it's 3rd excursion into the soaker park the trigger started to get wobbly and snapped right off... So thank God for the trigger repair article! I'll definitely be giving that a shot, in addition to reinforcing any other parts before I try to Collossus it. |

UserID: 1 | I think I'll release the Collosus article I wrote... yet another I was holding back. It'll be a few minutes. Expect it edited in. Edit: Post 2800. 8/29/04 The Collosus mod is the the equal to the K-mod for CPS cylindrical PC guns. While it is harder to do and gets worse results, it still will increase the power of your gun. Theory The basic theory behind the Collosus and K mods are simple; thicker rubber is harder to expand, therefore it will exert more force. In both of these mods you increase the thickness of the chamber. How much you increase it will determine how much of a power boost you'll get. The power boost will be shown in increased output and range. You gun however may not be able to take the added pressures. The actual space for the water in the PC also will get replaced by rubber, decreasing the amount of water held in it. These are not one-sided mods, many times you will have to do other mods as well. Materials
Depending on how many layers you plan to use, you could do a [url=cvf.php">Check Valve Freeze[/url] mod. If you used less than 5 layers that typically is not recommended. If you want a bigger power boost and use 5 or more layers the freeze will be recommended. You know what to do now depending on how many layers you put on. Opening the PC Open up your gun, you'll need to play with some of the internal parts to do this modification. To directly modify the PC, you'll have to open up the case it's held in. The case serves two purposes, to protect the PC from damage, and to keep it from expanding. You obviously do not want your PC to get damaged, it may burst which is never good. Also, the case stops the PC from expanding both vertically and horizontally. If you wanted to, you could replace the case with a case larger in diameter made from something such as PVC, and it will expand further vertically. However, that's not what we are doing in this mod. To open the PC case, get out your hacksaw and duct tape. The case is glued together most of the time, and you're not going to get it open very easily without taking the direct method. Start sawing on the side of the case where the trigger valve is. You want to be able to remove the case so that you have full access to the PC. Saw at an angle so you can piece together the two parts of the PC case easier. Remember to be careful to not hit the PC. Layering the bike tubes Now that you have that open, you can start layering the bike tubes. Some people have had success taking the PC off the gun or taking the large clamp on the end off to make this mod easier. Some also say that it's too hard to remove and get back on, not worth the saved effort. It's up to you if you want to do that. If you didn't know already, we'll be layering the bike tubes over the PC. By this I mean cutting off a segment of the tube and sliding it over the PC. You'll not be cutting flat strips of the bike tube off, rather short cylindrical pieces shaped somewhat like an O. Over time people have developed techniques to make Collosusing easier. One is to use short strips of the bike tube. The recommended length is 1 to 2 inches, depending on your strength. It will be extremely hard to do this mod with a single segment. To get the short strip over the large clamp on the end, you'll have to stretch it so that it's larger than it and then position it on the PC where you want to put it. Start layering from one side until you have the entier PC covered. That's you first layer. Now, getting on the second one could be tricky. You should cover up the places where the segments meet, but sometimes that can be hard because it will move them around. Another technique used when Collosusing is to put duct tape over the places where the segments meet, to keep them from moving. You'll remove the duct tape before you place the segment down (the gun will not work with it's PC duct taped like that. Keep on layering until you're where you wanted to stop. You may want to stop after a few layers, test it, and then put on some more. You may just want to get down to business, it's your decision. Testing Close up the gun, remember to use the duct tape to keep the PC case together. You will test your gun to make sure it still works. Pump it up, and shoot it. If your gun seems more powerful, congradulations on the successful modification. If it's not working (something went wrong), the best thing to do would be to post at the SSCentral forums about your problem, and see if they can help.
