CPS 2000 vs MXL, which is deadliest?

Post by marauder_4 » Wed Jul 15, 2009 3:58 am

Haha, so I watch too much Deadliest Warrior, I couldn't resist adding that to the title. My girlfriend just drove down here from Appalachian State in Boone. We are going to have a night battle. I let her pick from my arsenal and she picked my CPS 2000. I decided to go with something completely different, just to see how things pan out. Two legends, the CPS 2000 and Monster XL are about to go head to head. War story to follow.

Can't wait to hear the results. :D

My expectations:

Between two equally experienced users in this matchup, I would say from what I know that the 2000 user would win due to the fact that it greatly outranges the MXL, has greater mobility, and takes less pumps. But, someone with your experience should be able to win in this situation due to the likely large experience gap between you two.

But hey, you never know. She might pull it off and beat you (though I doubt it).
Cthulhu fhtgan..

My armory: XP 150, XP 220, stripped-down XP 70, Max-D 3000, FF ,Monster '01

CPS 2000: More power, lighter, but carries less water, and has much less shot time.

MXL: Less power, heavier, but carries more water and can make it last longer.

If the MXL user is good enough at dodging, even with their heavy weapon, they can just set a lower output nozzle combo, and wait until the 2000 user runs out of ammo.

I'd suggest experimenting with dissimilar nozzles on the MXL. Two different nozzles should put streams in different places. On the one hand that is wasted water, on the other it makes dodging harder.

Oh, and the MXL isn't 'something completely different'. A small pistol, like an XP240 or a Water Warriors Stingray, would be such, seeking to win by agility instead of raw power. (You probably WOULDN'T, but still.)

Considering it's a nighttime battle, neither side could be aware of each others presences until it's too close. And given M4's skill level and assuming his gf is a beginner, he could probably win with a medium XP. It depends if his gf can shoot a 2000 without wasting water.

Point. Though there's night and there's night. In an urban area there'll likely be a fair bit of light around, even in a quite large back garden.

The difference is that you can't be spotted in nighttime cover that would otherwise be visible during the day. (Especially when moving between cover)

The battle started off when I found Amie's hiding spot because she was screaming in the woods. Apparently she hid where a family of deer had been lying down and she woke them up. It was pretty funny. She overshot me almost the entire battle. How often does that happen? I can see how I would have been obliterated if she could actually aim and didn't have on flip flops. I used dual 5x most of the battle and dual 11.5x on 2 charges. At the end of the fight she was completely soaked head to toe and I was only hit twice.

Huh, in that picture, you look a little scared. Wonder why.

Cool, but kinda freaky, story about the deer. It always surprises me how people battle in forests at night...feels like you'd trip over a root, hit a branch, or something. Anyway, thanks for the post.

I've overshot a fair few times. It's easy to do if you're unused to the range of your weapon, and/or are rubbish at judging distances. On most weapons I'll get it right after missing a couple of times - but with the 2000 missing a couple of times wastes a lot of water!

@ Silence, Charlotte's campus is huge, and although we're the fastest growing university in the state we still have about 50 acres of straight up woods. Fortunately for me I have woods right next to my on campus apartment. It makes for a battle ground with the best of everything.

@cantab, Oddly enough, I was the one who ran out of first. She only had one shot left, but still. I think that it came from me being so aggressive/pumping rapidly between shots.
