[FanFic] Water-Torn - (Opening Chapter In)

Post by TheTyphoon » Sat Jul 31, 2010 8:33 pm

Author's note: I fully acknowledge that the situation and events in this Fan Fiction are completely unrealistic. It is meant for viewer enjoyment only! I'll also mention that there are fictional factions/places in this fan fic. During this fan-fic, you will notice that there is some inspiration from the video game, "Call of Duty 4". This is true, but don't panic, it's nothing huge, I've just taken some of the aspects of what happens. After all, the story mode of COD4 isn't TOO awful.

So basically, I figured that since I write some fanfics on Bungie.net, I should have a go at one here. So here it is, "Water-Torn" (meant to be a play on "War-Torn", if you didn't pick up on it. :p )

WATER-TORN
Chapter 1 - "The Coup"

Modern Day, Azsoakistan, Middle-East

Asahm Fugani felt the full force of the Flash Flood's Riot Nozzle blast a large amount of water at his head and upper torso, knocking him back slightly, dazed for a few seconds. The next thing he knew, he was being carried by two men, carried by his arms with feet trailing behind, and out of his estate into the bright sunlight of the Middle East. Before his eyes had even adjusted to the brightness of the mid-day sun, the two men forcefully put him into the back of a rather old car. Two men were sat in the front of the car. The driver was unarmed and was starting the car, whilst the passenger was more rough looking, and had a mobile phone and an XP40. The passenger turned to him, and got right in his face.

"If you even try to make a move to bail out of this car, Fugani, my men will hunt you down. You will be drenched from head....to toe. And then, we will put you in the coldest prison cell we can find. Got that?"

Fugani simply nodded. The passenger was in his early 30's by the look of him, but he had stubble and a square jaw. But the sand/olive uniform he was wearing along with his black officer's hat made Asahm aware that he was one of the Insurgents.

The car set off, heading to god knows where. Asahm looked out of the window to see the full coup of his country happening. Several men wearing the same Desert Camoflauge uniforms were running up the street, occasionally barging into the sandstone houses along the street. The car turned right, and along a large wall were several normal looking people, gagged and blindfolded. In front of them was a squad of Insurgent Soldiers. The Insurgents raised their Flash Floods, drenching the restrained civilians, who tumbled over to the ground.

Asahm Fugani lowered his head in shame. He should have kept these Insurgents in check much better. Now there was thousands of them, and they had taken his country from him. It was odd - how had they managed to obtain so many weapons as to create a revolutionary force? Hasbro Weapons Ltd. were usually quite expensive to get from the West, and yet here was an entire militia raised and trained with many varying Hasbro weapons, some Storm weapons, and even old Larami weapons, as well as Water Balloon Artillery, Hose VHS Turrets and Soaker Vehicles.

Ahmed had betrayed him. Now Fugani was sure of it. Ahmed, his "loyal" advisor, was the clear leader behind the Insurgent Uprising. None of his other advisors had acted so suspicously in recent weeks...and now this.

The car jerked around another corner, and they turned onto the road which went along the coastline. Beyond the coastline lied the Indian Ocean. With a deafning roar, two jets flew over, and a glimpse of their water-bomb-laden bomb bays made Fugani grimace. A loudspeaker now came into earshot.

"Our president, had PROMISED us! He promised! To take our great nation and people to new heights! But he has betrayed us to Western support! Today is Azsoakistan's day! Today, we rise again, to become what we should have been! All hail Ahmed, our new leader! Rise Azsoakistan! Rise Azsoakistan!"

Finally, the car began to slow. It ground to a halt outside the open air theatre. The driver and passenger got out of the car calmly, whilst an Insurgent grabbed Fugani and threw him to the pavement, shooting a single, well-aimed XP110 shot at his nose, spraying mist into his eyes, dazzling him yet again. He felt his arms grabbed again, and he was being dragged somewhere.

After his eyes had finally managed to clear the water out of his eyes without being able to use his hands, Fugani awakened to find his traitor smiling. Ahmed turned away from Fugani, who looked around to find his hands tied behind him around a post, and hundreds of Insurgents cheering, as well as the odd civilian who actually supported the new militaristic insurgents. Fugani looked back to his front to see Ahmed taking a gun from an unfamiliar figure. The pale, cloaked figure handed Ahmed a strange little squirt pistol. Ahmed took it, approached the restrained Fugani again, and raised the pistol to his head. The nozzle on it was huge. It must have been a pre-pressurised gun.

"This country...is mine...." said Ahmed. Fugani gulped, heard his heart-beat increase, anticipating-

A forceful wave of water crashed into his face, dazing him beyond feeling, and he heard the pitter patter of water balloons thrown from the crowd around him. Meanwhile, Ahmed smiled as his dazzled old colleage was taken again, down to the prison cells below....

And there, he would stay, forever.

I was thinking of making a story about an alien robot invasion. The robots were entirely indestructable except for one thing: The aliens didn't make them water proof. The thought never even crossed their mind. So the world starts fighting all the robots with water warfare...

By the way, starting tomorrow, I'm going to be gone for another week.

Hmm... Interesting story. My brother got CoD 4 for his birthday. I should make a story like this sometime. I was thinking about it...

It occurs to me that when invading a planet which is mainly covered in OCEANS, the invaders wouldn't overlook it. Perhaps there could be a technical reason they're vulnerable to water, for example they're air-cooled and need lots of vents to not overheat.

Chapter 2 - Full Force...to the Face
USSF Strategic Planning, Arizona, USA, 7 Hours after Fugani's capture

"...So our best option is to attack from positions in the Indian Ocean."
"That's exactly what I'm saying, sir. Nothing can stop a co-ordinated attack from USSM's, sir. And frankly, this occupation needs to be quick. We can't risk a fascist, aggresive nation endangering the Special Soaker Weapons factory that we have in Pakistan."

Supreme General Hark took a sip of coffee and returned his gaze to the map of Azsoakistan that was holo-projected above the meeting table. Ten of his best advisors sat around it too, and all of them had come to the conclusion that a simple attack from the Indian Ocean using United States Soaker Marines would be the most efficient way to secure the country. They'd also need air cover from aircraft carriers...luckily, being Supreme General of the United States Soak Forces had its advantages. Getting the Navy's support wouldn't be too difficult.

"Right. Let's put this into action, gentlemen," said the General, raising from his chair. "I want to know if there are any other nations taking part in this, we don't want to accidentally friendly-fire at the ship of an ally. I want to someone to get the USHN to mobilise our aircraft carriers, and alert the USSM's."
"Yes sir!"
"Right away sir."
"On it sir!"

The General turned to his weapons expert.

"Mr. Connors, I turn to you for....obvious reasons." said Hark, giving a polite smile.
"I understand sir. Since you ask, I've compiled the best loadouts for your Soaker Marines over the last few hours." replied Connors.
"Go ahead."

Mr. Connors reset the holo-projecter at the meeting table, inserted a tiny data chip and a new set of 3D images appeared.

"Here you can see the loadout for a Standard Marine, sir. Because of Azsoakistan's lack of long range areas, we shouldn't need specialised Sniper Soakers. A lot of Azsoakistan is bunched up together with sandstone houses, which means the Marines won't need blasters with max range. Instead we need something that has more kick at close-medium ranges. So I've assigned them to use Water Warriors Vindicators as their Primary weapons, equipped with P/T sights. The P/T sight, as you know, is beneficial at any range, and can be customised for any blaster, pre-battle."

General Hark nodded in acknowledgement.

"All troops, no matter what their speciality is, will have the RR XP20 as standard sidearm.". Connors stopped briefly to take a sip of water, before continuing. "Heavy troops have been assigned the excellent shoulder-mounted SuperCannon III. Assault Specialists will recieve Splat Blast Mk. 2's for primaries, and we also have some Shield Blasters available for those tougher missions."

The General took a few moments to ponder the decisions that Connor had made, and decided he was happy with them.

"Thank you, Connors. Make sure your decisions are relayed to all the appropriate units."
"Yes sir."

The General relaxed in his chair once more, on his own in the meeting table. The calm before the storm. That fit perfectly, he thought....

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BSAF Headquarters, Scotland, UK, 11 hours after Fugani's capture

David sighed as he cut the link with General Hark, who had just informed him of the US invasion of Azsoakistan. It was all very well, but something didn't seem right. Ahmed and his Insurgents knew that a coalition attack would follow yet they had made no attempt to improve Azsoakistan's shoddy border defences. Something wasn't right.

"Right, listen up. This isn't looking good, but we're going in anyway. We've been granted access by several of the nations of the Arabian Peninsula to cross across their land borders to reach Azsoakistan's western border. Obviously, they were never going to allow the full US force to cross their land borders, but since we're a special ops unit, they don't seem to mind too much. Our objective is to secure a small portion of Azsoakistan's western border so that the Insurgents can't make an offensive towards the Pakistani Special Soakers factory. We can't afford to fail this objective....that factory supplies half of the bloody Western world. Are we clear?"

About 15 "Yes sir" 's echoed in the room, before the men went to prepare their own custom weapons and such. David himself collected his CPS 2500 and SC500. Over the next hour, he fitted a P/T Sight onto the CPS 2500, and also attatched a water-proof laser pointer snugly onto the side of the blaster, to allow him to judge shots. It was a shame he couldn't add an "Uble" onto the blaster, but it was track-pumped. He left the SC500 un-customised, and set about preparing fast transport to Azsoakistan's western border....

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for reading this chapter! Definitions below.

USHN - United States Hydro Navy

P/T Sight - Pressure/Trajectory sight system for blasters. The sight is custom set for a weapon, and shows the height of a blaster's stream trajectory (from an aim-down-the-sights view) for how much pressure is in the blaster. Obviously, if a gun has lower pressure, the stream will droop more/have less height from your view. Usually electronic, which allows it to be holo-projected above the blaster's barrel and also means it can be changed according to individual blasters. Because they are electronic, they are usually rigged to detect how much pressure is in the blaster's pressure chamber, and then this will show a lighted line on the Sight, showing the height the stream will achieve at current pressure.

RR - Re-release. In this case, the USSM's are using Re-Release XP20's as sidearms.

BSAF - British Special Aquatic Force. An incredibly well trained division of soakers, they also often have recruits from Commonwealth countries such as Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders, Carribeans etc; even highly trained American individuals have made it into the squad. They are above and beyond the standard British Soaker Army (BSA) and have no ranks, apart from the squad leader, David. They are few in number, however.

Uble - A slang pronounciation of UWBL, or Underslung Water-Balloon Launcher. This recently developed tool attatches underneath a blaster of appropriate size and can fire small-sized water-balloons to an impressive 60ft, thanks to a breakthrough in pressure-containment materials.

P.S. I will be allowing three people to have their own character in the BSAF and four others to have a character in the USSM's. Obviously you won't be writing the parts for them, but you will post their name/usual weapon (if they're in BSAF, because USSM's have standardised weapons, but if you want a USSM character you could say is they're heavy/assault/rapid offensive etc.) and I will include them in the story.

I don't understand why that makes them not waterproof...

By the way, I'm back. I forgot to post that I would be gone for another week.

You didn't clarify the meaning of USSF & USSM. I'm gonna guess they stand for United States Soaker Forces/Militia/Military.

@martianshark: Yes you did. You said you would be gone another week in this same thread. Take a look.
