Food colouring in water guns
So I had the idea of adding food coloring to the water to make it change color? This would mainly be used to mark hits. Could this work? Does this damage the guns ? are there any other factors in using food coloring.

Will it stain clothing? Just because it's safe to eat doesn't mean it's safe to spill all over yourself.
Could anyone be allergic to it?

I work on Windows. My toolbox is Linux.

on a related topic, I have used food coloring in a busted WW wasp to make a scythe for the play Macbeth. it was pretty cool. I removed the pump from teh Wasp, and mounted it on a halloween scythe. when pumped, it looked like it was dripping blood.
so yes, the internals of a water gun can handle it.

First, what do you need the food coloring for? And if you really want it that badly, go get one of those cheap banzai color blasters, because that is about all they are good for.

Banzai Color Ball - just throw away the blaster and keep the natural food coloring.

. It would be used to mark hits but then again it's not really necessary.

Yeah, hits are generally marked by the wet spots on people's shirts. But coloring would be helpful for showing who hit who, if that is needed for points. But otherwise you could just use teams, and play soakfest or 1HK.

We (me and my group) do hits by feeling so that you don't have to stop playing just to determine where you're hit and whether it constitutes a kill.

I don't think you need it that much. Hits should be pretty easy to decipher, or they are at least in my games. I don't think they'll hurt water guns in general, but maybe CPSes cause of the rubber chambers. I don't know if I'd do this because of this reason.
