Talking XP150

A slightly off topic mod since I've modded this to primarily shoot foam but it still shoots water. More like a Flash Flood or Hydro Cannon now but with the the barrel off. Just so you know, this thing can fire a Stefan (homemade modified foam dart) through an Ikea catalogue!

I cut off the little orange nozzle and added the electrical conduit coulper reducer. The pump is plugged and I added a modified Nerf Recon stock.

It can shoot a foam dart over 235' flat! It's been band from wars.

That looks awesome. If you build this, and add a threads to the end of your gun, you could make it shoot streams again, larger than before, up to half an inch, though a nozzle this big would have two feet of range.

Oh yeah, and build a bipod.

235 feet?!? And through a really thick IKEA magazine? I wonder what would happen if you couplered a CPS 2000? Anyway, since it's couplered you could make a speedloader for it by just taping multiple pipes together. You could also make a brass slide breech like in this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVq6-Udl0Pw
Or this article:
http://modworks.blogspot.com/2010/08...ild-guide.html
Both are ways you can improve th RoF of the gun. It's also easier than breaking the barrel or ramrodding.

But great job! Btw, what kind of stefans do you use? I doubt slugs would pierce the magazine.

@atvan: there's a problem with the laminator, he's using CPVC for the barrel, while the laminator is PVC; they use different measuring systems. He could try building one out of CPVC though, but it would have different dimensions.

I've tried creating a brass breech but it's kind of expensive and hard to come by in my area. The barrel comes off quite easily a simple twist of the conduit coupler and it comes right off.

The Stefan I used to pierce the Ikea catalogue is actually an acrylic marble, hot glued on to stock nerf foam:

Definitely not war legal but fun to shoot inanimate objects with. This thing goes through cans and cardboard like they're not even there.

@strato- CPS guns actually have less pressure than air pressure guns, especially of you disable the check valve on the AP system. CPS is constant pressure(sort of), so it may start off weaker, but the good shot lasts longer. In this kind of nerf gun, the drop off doesn't matter, and you using air anyway. A CPS2k would shoot nerf darts better when filled with water, because water doesn't compress.
Somewhere, either her or at iSc, there is a chart wit hguns and their pressures.

@BlueCharged: If Nerf is his passion, then it is completely understandable that he would modify a water gun to suit this purpose. Remember, not everyone shares the same priorities!

I just watched one of your videos, and I saw one of your comments about this gun. You said it shot 180 feet, is there anything you happened to add or change to get 235 feet?

Edit: Lol at the whiteboard in the background.

My modified Nerf Titan hits 180' fllat. It's my XP150 that can hit 235' from shoulder height. It can hit about 180' from 6" level to the ground. Great for picking off ankles. Anywhere under 50', this would break skin with a regular hotglue domed Stefan.

I singled a titan and got to 200+, but just barely (Might have been the wind, but it was a level shot.)

180 to 200 feet seems to be the norm for a singled Titan. It's the most feared weapon in the Nerf foam lineup. Modified Super Soakers still beat Titans hands down! The PC's are least 1.5 times bigger. Some even 4 times bigger.

I've been shot by titans in a set of wars that do not have limits on gun selection, and guns that were pretty much titans before Apoc had gun restrictions. They are actually nothing special, just hurts a bit more than a regular hit. If you are used to being hit, only a gun of this kind of power will give you welts anymore, at range. Still wouldn't recommend having such guns in wars, and when you do face titans and converted water guns and the such, I really recommend treating them differently to protect your eyes. You remember Nibordude? He was a crossover player like me, and it's his incident in 2006 (permanent eye damage from direct shot by crossbow), witnessed by some important nerfers, that got East Coasters serious about eye protection. There was an earlier incident in 2003 somewhere, but this one is in the more recent memory. Statistically, Nerf is pretty safe, just play it smart. If you choose to fire something like that at close range, know how to aim. You'd be surprised how many people can't. There aren't many wars left that don't ban guns or darts. I don't really see the point of very long range gun except for fun at home.

This is definitely a just a 'fun' blaster for picking off cans and inanimate objects with friends at a cottage. I would never aim this at anyone.

I'm a person of considerable 'maturity' (I'm old. Lol.). I'm quite conscious about safety and respect regarding all modified blasters. I actually treat my blasters as 'firearms' and am very cautious and reserved when it comes to letting people handle them.

I have nieces and nephews who love playing with nerf guns (completely stock) and I don't let any of them play without eye protection. ... I don't let them touch ANY of my modified blasters.

With regards to water blasters, I personally believe eye protection is a must. Especially for the blasters showcased in this forum. There hasn't been any incidents as of yet but it only takes one.

If it wasn't so rare, i'd love to see a pool pumper gun (the one with four PCs) modded into a nerf gun. The barrel could be huge. That thing has twice as much PC volume or more than this 150, so theroretically, you could have a barrel with almost twice as much length, it would eb impractical, but you might be able to hit 300+ feet with it.

I wonder, a WBL with a pull valve and a 1/2 inch CPVC barrel. How far would that go?

The PCs on a WBL are so huge that you'd have to have a loooooong barrel. Ideally about 2/3s the volume of the pressure chamber. With a barrel that long, you could probably get away with a ball valve.
