Based on what you told me in your email something like SuperCPS would be good for you: http://www.sscentral.org/homemade/supercps.html
It holds more water, is more powerful, more versatile with a variety of nozzles, more durable with pressure rated pipe, move available, and cheaper than the CPS 2000 or CPS 2500.

If the 2000 was a Mk1 I'd take it.

If you want a flexible gun, then the 2000 difinitely doesn't belong in that list. Sure, it has great power, but a homemade can have much more power. The only reason I'd get a 2000 is for the collector's value. It only has one nozzle, and that nozzle is big enough to fit a baby elephant (I like to exaggerate), so it's not a very versatile gun.
Basically, it's down to CPS 2500 and a homemade. They'll both cost a bit of money. I'd say at least $50 for both (in the winter you can get a 2500 for about that much, expect to pay much much more in the summer). Homemades are generally more powerful, durable, and versatile than a CPS 2500, but a 2500 requires no assembling, and has the convenience of a trigger, something you don't see very often in homemades.
