XP 150 Reservoir Replacement?

Post by VAJMH » Thu Nov 05, 2009 3:19 am

I have the opportunity to purchase a 150 for cheep, but the reservoir is missing. Can I use my 105 res interchangably? Or is there a way to replace a lost reservoir on a soaker? There are no attachments on the reservoir area so size or shape isnt a problem, though unfortunately it does have to screw in downwards rather than forwards. Regardless I think I could figure something out.

Anyone have a broken 105 or 150 I could get a reservoir off of? I prefer to keep things legit though I'd be capable of creating a new, custom reservoir if necessary.

There aren't any pictures that show the tank connections of the XP 105 and XP 150, so it's hard to say that you can interchange the tank if you need to. But I know this: The XP 150's tank is just a tank; it has no fancy relief valves. So provided the XP 105's tank has the same size connector, swapping tanks should work.

Unfortunately I know of nobody who has a broken one who wants to sell it or give away it. Things like that never pop up on eBay.

But making a tank won't be any Lewis and Clark expedition into uncharted territories; it's just a tank. The hard part is finding something to connect to and seal with gun's inlet. Ben and I have an XP 150, but we're at college right now, so we can't measure the correct connection size for a new tank off our XP 150.

I've only seen one picture of this connector online:

It's that little outcropping on the tank. Once you find how wide it is, and the size of the O-ring, making a new tank would be simple. You could also measure the hole where the tank screws in too.

If you don't want to make a tank, that's understandable. It might also be possible to make a backpack tank and then hook up some vinyl tubing to the feed tube that sticks out of the gun (It does have a feed tube, right? My memory's a bit grey.). That would require almost no work.

Come to think of it, I DO have a couple of backpacks laying about, so that's definately an option. Thanks for that thought!
