CPS 2100, how to

Post by VAJMH » Thu Sep 10, 2009 8:23 am

Let me start off by saying: Fuck you, 2100 designers. Why did you make a gun that is impossible to disassemle for repairs???

That out of the way, here's how we're going to do it. If you've worked on another supersoaker before this one and are confident enough to go inside, don't let a little thing like the stupid pump cap stop you.

Unscrew it as you normally would. You'll find it's held both at the nozzle cap and the stupid black pump cap. This may only be for certain versions, I'm not sure. Anywho, take a serrated knife or small saw and start at the bottom, making a straight line out from the split in the casing up the pump cap. Then saw. Then extend this cut over the round top of the cap. The part that face up towards the nozzle can be tricky, but if you've sawed the other two parts you can now bend it apart a bit and put your knife into the front of the cap and saw from inside.

Now comes the hard part. You need to wiggle the casing and bend it. Cracks might appear in the orange nozzle cap, so be cool about it, but eventually you should get the casing to slide out from under the nozzle cap. This makes reattaching it difficult, but I didnt want to cut the nozzle cap in half 1 because it looks thic, 2 because the position makes that nigh impossible, and 3 because I might have damaged the nozzle.

Anywho, now youre inside the gun and can fix it up. I had to split mine open to do the rubber band mod.

Hmm, it sounds like you have one of the more difficult marks to work with. Thanks for the guide, though.

btw welcome to the forums! :)

This is the MKII of the 2100, which I also had to deal with to open. The infamous glued pump cap and nozzle cap is present on many other guns though, and there are a variety of ways to handle them. Knives and saws work but you can also use a dremel, which works faster and more easily, but also produce a lot more dust. Lastly, you can take a hammer and a small flathead screwdriver and hammer through. That's what I did for the Flash Flood.

One thing I've done to smaller guns (forgot which model) is simply brute forced the two halves apart, bending and breaking the plastic of the shell near the glued pump cap. Probably not the best method, but it may be A method. At least you've no risk of cutting through the pump shaft.

I've done the same thing as Cantab...just broken the shell in half [though I usually saw the pump cap]. The mk2 version of the 2100 is almost impossible to work with without leaving some visible sign. If you know the marks, you can avoid mk2's the next time you see a 2100 for sale.

Oh and that reminds me that the SSC reservoir comparison pictures for the 2100 lack an mk1 reservoir. The mk1 rez looks like an mk2, with a single line, but the line is flat. I'll take a picture of it the next time I am at home.

Hmmm...my 2100 doesn't exactly match any of the given marks. The reservoir is a mark 2 type. The cap, however, is like neither picture. The ridges are narrow, not like the mark 3, but there isn't the circumferential ridge at the base as in the mark 2.

Of course, the cap could be a replacement.

I wouldn't trust cap differences. Reservoir backs, nozzle type, and pump cap status are the most reliable.
