Helpful Cap Fix

Post by VAJMH » Mon Sep 14, 2009 7:43 am

I thought I'd toss this up as its one of the modifications I've made to my monster X. I don't like losing caps at all, especially since I had to paint the cap on my rifle brown. So I found a handy item: In the kitchen where I work we get bulk jars of stuff like pickles, etc. A jar of pepperoncini came with a little plastic thing that looked like a target with holes in it, so if one desired they could just turn the jug upside down and drain the juice. I snatched that up and wrapped some thread around the cross in its middle, then looped the thread inside my cap. I secured it with some super glue (make sure the cap is dry!) and then folded the plastic targetty thing into a taco shape and slipped it into the reservoir where it unfolded. Now I have a connected cap.

Those of you without access to bulk pepperoncini jugs could try things like cutting this pattern into a flat sheet of flexible plastic. Make it basically look like a plus sign with a circle around it. tie the string at the middle of the plus sign within the circle. this way its hard to pull out since any tugging will be distributed evenly around the circle rather than on one side.
