I am planning to do my first K-Mod on my CPS 1000 but there are a few pesky problems that prevent me from doing it at the moment.

1. The trigger valve has gone. I've tried a fairly big rubber band but the pin still won't pull back. Maybe I have the wrong rubber band but its really annoying as it was the only decent rubber band I have at the moment. I can't really do the spring method since I am K-Modding the firing chamber. Any suggestions of how to fix this annoying problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

2. The pump is getting really hard to pump. Sometimes its loose then is hard to pump. It now is starting to happen when I pump the gun with water in it. It has had a wooden rod put through it so would that have affected it? I tried sanding it but that was no use. Again, any help much appreciated. Thank you.

Hopefully, if these are fixed, which hopefully they can be. I can start on my first CVF and K-Mod.

P.S. What's the recommended number of balloons to K-Mod a CPS 1000. Also, just to make sure, 12 inch balloons are fine aren't they?

Thanks in advance.

Soaker Media suggests 70 balloons at maximum. ;)

If you do 70, I suggest you reinforce the internals.

I was planning on doing that. I would reinforce the trigger valve pin with sanding and putting glue on it to make it stronger when pulled which was said to do on the K-Mod article.

First though, I need to find ways of fixing these pesky problems that stop me from doing it. I don't really have anymore ideas of how to fix.

Your explanations seem to be adequate, but I think a picture would help a lot out. ;)

What's this about a wooden rod? Where exactly is the wooden rod going through?

It appears that the wood has rotten and expanded. Perhaps this is the problem.

Also, I may have thought of a way to fix the trigger valve. Here is what I think may work.

The orange circle on the pin. Perhaps if I epoxy the end of the pin where the end of the circle goes, then the orange circle would stay there so it would pull back on the pin to close the valve by the elastic band.

Thanks.

You can fix that. Either take the rod you have now or fabricate a new one. What you can do is after fabricating it, add 3-4 coats, (if it was me, 5) of polyurethane finish to help protect against further rotting. Pretty easy to do and its cheap for a small can. Glossy or not won't matter at this point, I assume that rod is hidden.

Thanks for that. I will get a new rod and coat it.

Work in progress. I will update when finished.

Make sure to evenly coat the polyurathane and try not to get runs and drips, as this could lead to the new rod not fitting. If it doesn't go in all the way, sand just a bit until it fits comfortably. Finishes on wood make the wood not only protected, but also smooth, so it will help a bit as a lubricant, if you do this correctly the pump is not only reinforced, it will be smooth as you pump the gun.

Just to let you know, I did a 35 balloon K-mod to my CPS 1200 which is very much the same power wise and I got the same distance as a 21K. The power wasn't as great, but the range was. If you put 70 balloons on the CPS 1000 you can expect some pretty hefty stats, but the internals are something you must watch.

Well, I'm nearly done. I've done a 30 balloon K-Mod. Not as much as others but it should still get some good results and for my first K-Mod I'd say its enough for me. I have also made the nozzle a bit bigger. Probably about 10x I estimate. Done my CVF. Just got to wait for the glue to dry on my fixed trigger valve.

I will put it back together and then do the pump mod again with the polyurethane.

But I think I may just try the gun out before I do it just to see what results I get. I am looking forward to it.

I think going with 30 on the CPS 1000 is a good idea. I did about 30 on my CPS 1200 and I got about 50-55 feet. The CPS 1000 is probably stronger so you should get better results than me.

Well, its done, and WOW! Its awesome. Its shoots a lot further than it used to and its beam is about 12x. Its so amazing. Pictures here. I have just attached a picture of the gun as I won't be keeping that picture. But the shot picture will certainly stay and go on my site when I get started. :D

I will make and coat the pump rod later. There isn't really any pump problems yet but I will do the pump mod soon just in case.

Thanks for all your help! :P

Awesome results! Looks very successful. I was going to K-mod my CPS 1000 but the trigger valve totally broke so I'm looking to buy a new one.
