Look at these two links of a ebayer selling a playstaion 2 box, And a xbox box. The xbox box is currently at 102$. You can tell he is lying by how he describes it. But it is funny :P . Poor people who are just about to lose over a 100 dollars for a cardboard box. I would fell so pawned if I payed 102 dollars for a cardboard box :Hey, that's funny.: . I would like to quote him "Its a box, nothing more, nothing less..." :Hey, that's funny.:

Well you remeber the rolex scam? They had a picture of a rolex and sold them for like 2,000 each. The description read "rolex watch, picture says all"

Hey, that's funny. and they didn't lie so couldn't really get in trouble.

Yeah, but they are only using misleading advertising. They aren't actually doing anything illegal.

I seem to remember when the PS2 first came out someone put a PS2 box on eBay. When the woman who bought it found out that it was just the box, she took the seller to court. As it had been listed just as a box, she lost.

"misleading advertising" IS illegal. true, they're in the clear. they just rely on the human nature to not read the fine print. they aren't being misleading. they're just being 'ambiguous as to the product's true nature'

Misleading advertising isn't illegal in a private sale. If sony sold a box as the above people did they would get in so much legal problems, but on ebay there is no problem. As long as it doesn't directly lie it's fine.
