Well, the 1700 on the bottem dosent have a sticker on the right side, but the one on top does. Did you lose the sticker on the bottem one? Also the reason the lower one looks bigger is because of the angle you took the picture, try taking a picture from right over the two. the lower on from what I see has a blank strap.

The one above does have a nozzle selector right. I can't tell if its on 5X or its missing one. If it is, the top one might be a fake.

I took careful observations and I can say that I think both are real and are about the same size. Its probably an opticle illusion on the picture part, but the top one MAY be a little bit smaller. If the top is smaller, it might be a fake. A really well done fake.

The bottom one is probably a different Mk, so all the stickers and stuff could be on the other side. If there is a fake, I think the top one is more likely of being fake. But I still think that neither are fake.It would have to be a heck of a fake to shoot like the 1700s though. Oh and look, the one on the bottom doesn't have the super soaker name in orange on the side.

Sorry about the lack of information.
1. There are stickers on both of the 1700s. That's how I discovered the difference. They were pointing different directions, but the stickers were visible...
2. I re-measured them, and it is just an optical illusion. I still think the bottom one's tank is slightly wider, but I'm not sure.
3. Both have the nozzle selector. I forgot to switch the top one to 10x.
4. When facing opposite directions, they appear to be mirror images of each other.
On iSoaker, Soakologist said that the bottom one was a European version, which would make sense considering where Dad got it...
iSoaker's 1700, which was NIB when he created the article for the armoury, is the same type.
I hope this clarifies some things.

If you want to know if the tank is bigger, then place water in it and measure it after it's full. I wonder if more soakers have different marks depending on their country. Very interesting.
