parrot discipline

Post by axolotl223 » Mon Jul 26, 2010 3:49 pm

I need a non lethal water pistol to discourage my pets from bad behavior. I would prefer just to buy one and not make one. Any individuals out there that want to sell an obsolete home made model. Thanks John R.

Pretty much any squirt gun or cheap water gun would work.
Look in your local dollar store for a small water gun.

Welcome to Super Soaker Central.

I shut down the marketplace thread for now so that the first part to be discussed is which water gun you want to use. Chances are that you don't want/need a homemade since they require more maintenance than stock water guns and you don't really need anything high ranged, powerful, nor with high output to use for any kind of pet. A water gun like the Max-D 3000 would probably be just fine for this purpose.

Squirt guns probably are not since they may be too weak to really discourage the pet from anything. With a small air pressure blaster, you can control the pressure by pumping more or less, though piston powered blasters can also work by pumping with more or less force.

thanks for the replies. I have gone through a lot of made in China, terrible quality, cheap squirt guns. They either do not work at all or break the first time you look at them wrong. I was hoping that someone here could at least give me the name of a quality manufacturer that could help or as I mentioned before a used homemade gun.

Hasbro's Super Soakers and Buzz Bee Toys' Water Warriors are the two major brands. Hasbro's current line-up is a bit poor, although you may be able to find the super-compact XP 215, which will be good if you only need a light sprinkling of water. Buzz Bee do a range of small pistols (larger than the XP 215 but still small compared to big blasters) which might be good. All these blasters will be much better built than the cheap squirt guns you've had.
I work on Windows. My toolbox is Linux.
Arsenal:
Super Soaker: XP215, 2xXP220, Liquidator, Aquashock Secret Strike M(odded), Arctic Blast M, CPS1200, CPS2100, SC Power Pak, 3l aquapack, 1.5l aquapack
Water Warriors: Jet, Sting Ray M, Shark, Argon M, Tiger Shark, PulseMaster
Others: Waterbolt, The Blaster, Storm 500, Shield Blaster 2000, generic PR gun, generic backpack piston pumper (broken), 3l garden sprayer M, 10l water carrier:

So how much do I need to spend on a squirt gun that is durable and effective? In reality, if I can find a gun that works, just brandishing it works 99% of the time.I do not abuse my pets but sometimes I need to get their attention.

Around $5. Nothing fancy, but a max-d 2000 should do the trick.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.
Quack damn you.

If you can find a Soaker Wars Rattler or Bottle Blitz that would be fine. They're not too powerful.
Off topic: I seriously think that Steven Frank guy is a bot. Seriously, Who revives old threads with off topic stuff?

EDIT: Wait a minute, that guy ^_^ up there seems like a bot too!
Sorry if I'm not active much, busy on another forum and another project non-soaker related.

I don't want to sound like a mod, but this thread is kind of old.

Well, David Stone necroed this thread first, then strato brought it up after it was over 2 weeks old. I didn't bother posting in, just decided to let the thread sink down by itself, but I guess I'll just settle everything and lock it. PM a mod or start a new topic or something if you have something to add.
