XP 270 or Max-D 5000

Post by elyz » Thu May 15, 2008 10:51 am

So, after my Flash Flood recently died, I need a new gun fast.
Right at the moment a local discounter is offering Super Soakers (apparently a re-issue of old ones)
I can choose between a XP 275 and a Max-D 5000.
Which one would you prefer? I know that both are not top-notch, but which one would you pick?

I would definitely choose the XXP 275. It performs better and has much more capacity than the Max-D 5000. The Max-D 5000 doesn't even have a separate pressure chamber; the one that you see if actually fake! The XXP 275 has two separate chambers and plenty of nozzles to choose from. In all, it doesn't really seem fair to compare the two.

Ooops, sorry I meant the XP 270.
My fault .... *blush*
So how about the XP 270 and Max-D 5000?

Again, definitely the XP 270. It has a separate chamber, which is very helpful are a sign of a quality gun. The Max-D 5000 has neither.

Edit: Um, seems I was confused the XP 310 with the XP 270. Well, I'd still choose the XP 270 anyway.

The XP 270 only has one nozzle from what I can tell. Still, I think it would be a better water gun because of the separate pressure chamber. From what I know it's the best selling Super Soaker of all time as well, so that's probably why it's still around.

XXP because most MAX-D's tend to break realy easly. So go with the XXP another reson is because you can proble still get a MAX-D 6000 i can get the 5000's in a town near mine. All i know is i dont think there going to be selling XXP 270's eny time soon.

Let's set the record straight:
  • The XXP 275 is rare, dual-nozzled, and one of the most powerful air pressure Super Soakers.
  • The XP 270 is common, frequently re-released, single-nozzled and has average power.
  • The Max-D 5000 is not so common, although not rare, and is not very powerful.
There is no XP 275 or XXP 270! The guns that elyz has requested feedback on are the XP 270 and the Max-D 5000.

Finally, it I were in your position, elyz, I would opt for the XP 270.

In my experience, the Max-D 5000 is way better than the XP 270. That said, the MD5K's trigger valve did break after maybe five years, and the XP 270 had a messed up nozzle that shot a very poor stream. The former's range was way better.

I love the maxd5000, it has great power range and capacity for its size.
